vorlonEickmeyer: ok, so after fixing up STRUCTURE in the edubuntu seeds, the images are failing to build because for the first time the build is using the snap list actually in the edubuntu seed instead of from the ubuntu seed.  And it fails because chromium has some additional content snaps required.  I've seeded gnome-3-38-2004 because I know its status, but chromium also requires cups and I haven't06:34

Eickmeyervorlon: Looking at the doc, the cups snap is not explicitly listed. However, at this point I'm questioning why the chromium devs decided to require a snapped cups as opposed to connecting to a plug or something to enable access to the system cups. Either way, the cups snap is done by OpenPrinting, which would suggest TilKampetter is behind it.14:29
vorlonEickmeyer: yes, I'm aware he's behind it but haven't reviewed that it's maintained in a way that meets the other requirements14:30
vorlonI would ask that you check this out before you seed it (and at minimum, it needs to have the per-release ubuntu channels opened before you can successfully seed it)14:31
EickmeyerYes, I'm aware of that as well.14:31
EickmeyerI'm willing to drop the chromium snap for the moment. The purpose was to allow it to be easier for educational institutions to have easier and more familiar access to Google-specific features and services and was a suggestion from the community. Wasn't a deal breaker, but it definitely unraveled a can of worms that was unexpected.14:33
EickmeyerI, for one, don't like the idea of having two instances of cups installed.14:35
Eickmeyervorlon: Dropped chromium. It's just not worth the trouble, and I don't like the idea of two instances of cups installed.14:42
vorlonok14:42
vorlonI'm happy with that, I don't love the idea of shipping two browser snaps by default on an image anyway, they're not small14:42
EickmeyerTrue.14:42
jbichaEickmeyer: if you shipped Chromium, is there a reason to still ship Firefox?14:48
Eickmeyerjbicha: Point is kind of moot now, but mostly for consistency with other flavors. But what I'm worried about most with Chromium is the dependency on the cups snap, which is odd and would create a situation where the system is running two cups.14:53
jbicha2 cups is supposed to be ok since there are several snaps using the cups snap, but I do see that my Chromium isn't recognizing my local network printers right now :(14:56
EickmeyerYeah. Snaps should be able to tap into the system snap with a plug. This seems like a problem to me.14:56
