bf-husumHallo,07:58
bf-husumKönntet Ihr "anschieben" das Kvdr wieder aktiviert wird? Und wenn die Treiber für DVB-Tv Karten im Kernel sein sollen, dürfen die auch gerne funktionieren....08:02

kmhi have a problem with write access on the windows system/installation partition11:28
kmhin 23.04 which i don't have in 22.04 or other linux distros11:29
kmhif i check the permission for the windows installation disk it has the Kubuntu user name, however if i check other other partitions (including other linux distros on this multiboot machine and other ntfs partitions) the own is root instead11:32
kmhso i don't understand why the windows installation partition got assigned to the Kubuntu user and not to root like all other partitions11:33
kmhand i'm quite sure how to change that, so that the windows installation paetition gets moved to root as owner as well11:35

user|30Hi, I'm happy to be able to setup my new desktop computer tomorrow. So, what's the recommended file system in 2023? BTRFS? ZFS? Or still EXT4?19:46
user|30Note: I don't need encyption. And I want to be able to add an additional SSD some time in the future and it's space should just blend in19:48
DragnslcrI'm a big fan of ZFS, though I haven't used it for the root partition19:54
mmikowskiuser|30: I'm a huge fan of ZFS for servers. However, IMO, EXT4 is just fine for client computers these days. BTRFS is also good but can be quite a bit slower than EXT4. If your data is already backed-up, the benefits of snapshots are not that great, and can be complicated to administer - although certainly easier without encryption (hint: use a20:28
mmikowskisingle BTRFS drive with subvolumes). I find apt-rollback and ppa-purge to be about all I need most of the time. FWIW, I spent 4 months running and testing BTRFS over LUKS last year.20:28
mmikowskiWith the "Just Blend In" target, you may want to consider LVM + EXT4 or BTRFS. There are warnings about BTRFS for multi-disk setups, but I don't have experience with that.20:29
Dragnslcrkoffeinfriedhof- it's easy to add a new disk to an existing ZFS pool22:08
CrellHi folks. Odd behavior. A while back... all my window borders disappeared.  Everything still works, but there is zero border around any window.  I've poked through the Settings app and don't see anything relevant.  What the heck happened, and how do I un-happen it?22:15
geniiCrell: Try System Settings... Application Style .. Window Decorations ( in the middle pane)      the global Border Size setting should be in the bottom right22:21
CrellAh ha!22:22
CrellIt says the theme's default is no border.  (I'm using Breeze, mainly because it was the default.)  Which... I'm pretty sure didn't used to be the case.22:23
CrellBut I was able to set it to Normal, and all seems right with the world now.  Thanks!22:26
geniiCrell: Glad to be of assistance22:55
kmhhi23:37
mmikowskikoffeinfriedhof: Agreed. Best support and maturity too.23:38
kmhi have a problem with Kubuntu 23.04 and a windows installation partition on a multiple boot machine23:38
kmhif i access the windows partition i only get a readonly access23:39
kmhi don't have that issue with a kubuntu 22.04 and MX linux installation on the same machine23:40
kmhanybody come acroos this issue?23:40
oerheksWindows is hibernated, could be a reason for refusal to mount23:44
kmhyes i was wondering about that23:55
mmikowskikmh: Another possibility: there are at least 2 ntfs drivers. NTFS is usually RO, ntfs-3g is read-write. You might need to install one of these to get read-write.23:56
kmhbut that doesn't seem to be the case and it should have moved 22.04 and mx linux into read only modes as well23:56
mmikowskiThis HOWTO looks pretty good: https://recoverit.wondershare.com/file-system/mount-ntfs-linux.html23:56
kmhbut they function fine with write access, it is just the newly installed 23.04 that has that issue23:57
mmikowski23.04 might not have the libs installed.23:57
mmikowskiIn other words, is ntfs-3g + fuse installed? I'm not saying I know that's what the issue is; just an educated guess.23:58
kmhmmikowski,  i noticed one difference possibly related to it in 22.04 the drive is mounted with fuseblk as firelsystem whereas in 23.04 it is mounted with ntfs323:58
mmikowskiright!23:58
kmhlet me check the url23:59
mmikowskiThis one might be better: https://www.makeuseof.com/mount-ntfs-windows-drives-in-linux/23:59
