IrcsomeBot<rcpp85> You can install pretty much everything from the Discover launcher. You can also install many packages from Snap and Flapak repos clicking on their download links and opening in the Discover application. I almost don't use the command line to install things. (re @IrcsomeBot: <Tazat> U know as WizBang great as Linux is supose to be  cant they make the install and unistall simpler  than all this comand line crap)03:13
IrcsomeBot<rcpp85> We don't care about that. As stated, you can go wherever you want to rant and hate Linux, just not here. (re @IrcsomeBot: <Tazat> It is no wonder folks HATE LINUX!!!!! cannot get support after you have followed all the instructions to install a program all I want to do is to install  open JDK 11 as it keeps telling me dependendcies screwed up never using Linux again think I might start a HATE Group somewhere)03:14
IrcsomeBot<sultonakbarr> Hello, Today i installed kubuntu version 22.04.2, but i have a problem, i use sddm window manager, when i just do something, and my computer turns off the screen automatically, when I turn it back on and log in, sometimes kubuntu randomly docks, windows actions like close or minimize it becomes an error' and glitch, the application can still be accessed but, The dock looks frozen, it's really bothersome I have to use CTRL+ALT+T and resta03:35

weedmicI notice that if I touch the scroll wheel on my mouse when it is to the left of an open app, it switches screens.  I have gone through all the system settings and can't seem to find that setting.  If you know what I am looking for let me know please.06:51

weedmictks - i did that, but i think i need to logout and back in fo rit tow work07:03
weedmicoic, it is ever desktop & monitor - but almost done07:04
weedmictake that back, it's each monitor - done - very very happy now today :)07:05
oerheksmaybe yes, logout login to take effect07:05
weedmicno, apply was enough, but it only worked on the right monitor - copasetic07:06
weedmicit did not occur to me that it would be a setting unreachable from "system settings" - must be some legacy thing07:07
demon_bladetomreyn: my kubuntu version is 22.04.2 LTS... I know my SMbus is not working because it's written on the error screen. It doesn't let my laptop boot properly.. I mean sometimes my laptop doesn't boot at all.. it just get freezes on the image which I shared above. Hardware I am using is asus vivobook 15 pro. The problem started when I tried to set the default key F9 and F10 to their original functionality but that didn't worked08:56
demon_bladebut this error pooped up... And it was an error which was there when I installed kubuntu on my machine. I reinstated the kubuntu but the error is still there.08:56

demon_bladeMy kernal version09:06
tomreyndemon_blade: so booting fails sometimes but not always, right? if you can make it boot, can you check the firmware version, too?10:21
tomreyn<tomreyn> also, is the mainboard firmware up to date?   journalctl -b | grep DMI:10:21
tomreynthe latest bios version is "303" (released 2023-05-17) according to https://www.asus.com/supportonly/k6502hc/helpdesk_bios/10:25
demon_bladeYes it is up to date10:28
demon_blade30310:28
tomreynso you upgraded it in the past 14 days?10:28
demon_bladeYep...10:29
demon_bladeBut I reinstalled my kubuntu few days ago10:29
tomreynbut the smbus issue occurred previously, too,right?10:29
tomreynprior to the bios upgrade10:30
demon_bladeYep... Before and as well as after reinstalling10:30
demon_bladeYep before upgrade as well10:30
tomreyn<tomreyn> blacklisting i2c_i801 or booting linux <5.15 may work around it.10:30
demon_bladeOk let me try10:31
tomreynwhich measures did you take when you "tried to set the default key F9 and F10 to their original functionality"?10:36
demon_bladeBlaklisting worked ... Thankyou10:37
tomreynyou may loose functionality this way, such as suspend + resume10:38
demon_bladeBut there was another problem.. which was there..10:38
tomreynfeel free to post a bug report also10:38
tomreynwhen reporting a bug, it'd be best to do so while the blacklisting is not in place, if you can still boot that way.10:39
demon_bladethis is still here preventing my laptop to boot..  https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/9ezDVeh5/irccloudcapture3503250832476463027.jpg10:39
tomreynthere are several acpi module settings you can try, including disabling the module - but better find a middle ground10:40
tomreynhttps://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/admin-guide/kernel-parameters.txt10:41
demon_bladeWhat to do..10:42
demon_bladeI still have to enter the safe mode to boot my pc10:42
demon_bladeIt booted but I wanted it fixed.10:43
tomreyni'm guessing the "DPC: RP PIO log size 0 is invalid" message hints at the root cause for both issues (smbus + acpi). i'm not familiar with it at all, though.10:43
demon_bladeBut the smbus issue is not there.10:44
tomreynyou can try acpi=strict or =noirq10:44
tomreynthe smbus issue is not there because you are actively working around it. but the DPC message was also present while the smbus issue was present.10:44
demon_bladeYes . So can't I fix the issue?10:45
tomreyn"i'm not familiar with it at all, though."10:45
demon_bladeOh anyone you know who can help?10:46
tomreynif you do a web searc on "DPC: RP PIO log size 0 is invalid" - for me the first hit is https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209943 - did you read this, yet?10:46
-ubottu:#kubuntu- bugzilla.kernel.org bug 209943 in Drivers "pci 0000:00:07.0: DPC: RP PIO log size 0 is invalid" [Normal, New]10:46
tomreyndemon_blade: try booting without "quiet" (and optionally with "verbose") also, other errors may be getting covered up there10:58
tomreynthe summary of the above bug report seems to be 'bios bug (deviation from specification) on some intel platforms', but should be without impact.11:00
tomreynso i guess the "DPC: RP PIO log size 0 is invalid" messgae is indeed a red herring (ignore it)11:01
demon_bladeOk11:02
