bdju | Hey all, I'm not on Lubuntu, but I'm using pcmanfm-qt and I can't get the filter bar to go away. Neither ctrl-shift-k nor clicking `view -> filtering -> clear all filters` seems to get rid of it. Not able to hide it with the option to show/focus the bar either. I'll probably just have to restart the program and reopen all my tabs manually, but I thought I'd attempt to report this issue first. | 08:44 |

bdju | I'm on Guix System, and `Help -> About` shows Version 1.3.0 for pcmanfm-qt. | 08:45 |
bdju | I'm using Sway, but I believe pcmanfm-qt is running via xwayland. | 08:46 |
guiverc | bdju, why not try a lxqt room (OFTC) as this is a Lubuntu room | 09:49 |
bdju | I did check for an lxqt room first, but I only checked libera. I think there were 3 people in there so I just left right away. | 09:49 |
bdju | Thanks for the heads-up about the OFTC channel. | 09:50 |
guiverc | with OFTC I meant server/network (like we're on libera currently; Debian & some other open source groups use other networks) | 10:11 |
* guiverc just noticed you're there now anyway.. | 10:12 | |
bdju | Oh yeah, I knew what you meant. Maybe my phrasing was weird. | 10:33 |
kc2bez[m] | Upstream LXQt has the discussions on Github too. | 10:58 |
Alexion | Hello! Using Lubuntu 22.04 LTS on a Fujitsu laptop. The problem is I can't login to my user anymore. After I enter my user's password, the login screen freezes. But the mouse is still responsive. The only thing I can do is shutdown using the power button. What can the problem be? | 17:21 |
wxl | Alexion: can you open a virtual terminal, with e.g. ctrl-alt-f5 and login that way? if so, run top and see if everything's behaving | 18:28 |
Alexion | wxl: gonna try that and come back with an update | 19:47 |
Alexion | wxl: Back. I managed to login using the terminal. I ran top and there is no memory or CPU bottleneck. | 20:03 |
Alexion | "A few things can throw you into a panic faster than trying to log into your computer and being denied entry. You click on your username, enter your password, hit Enter, and… nothing. | 20:08 |
Alexion | Unfortunately, this kind of experience is more common than you might think with Ubuntu. This is commonly known as the Ubuntu login loop issue" | 20:08 |
Alexion | so is this a login loop issue what I am experiencing? | 20:08 |
wxl | Alexion: i wouldn't make assumptions abotu lubuntu based on ubuntu as we use completely different display managers. in fact, we have more in common with kubuntu | 21:10 |
wxl | so next i would look at the sddm logs | 21:10 |
wxl | actually | 21:19 |
wxl | your solution may be much simpler https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/SDDM#Hangs_after_login | 21:19 |
Alexion | wxl: I just reinstalled the lqxt environment and it still doesn't work | 21:29 |
wxl | all that said was remove a file. | 21:30 |
Alexion | the .Xauthority file, right? | 21:35 |
wxl | yuuup | 21:36 |
Alexion | and I must re-login without rebooting? | 21:40 |
Alexion | I removed the file, but problem is not solved | 21:47 |
Alexion | I can login using the TTY, but not using the GUI | 21:48 |
wxl | is the file still there? if so, that's still the problem | 22:58 |
wxl | if not, you can use the likes of `journalctl --no-pager | grep sddm` to see the logs | 22:58 |
wxl | maybe also check /var/log/Xorg.0.log | 22:59 |
