[09:22] My Plasma crashed and I can't do anything about it. If I am trying to restart it from another terminal with kstart5 plasmashell it says qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display qp.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb in" even though it was found [09:22] Any solution or should I go back to Ubuntu as this is beyond annoying === NotEickmeyer is now known as Eickmeyer [16:14] Gkjs [16:14] gkjs [16:15] 9kjs [16:16] Hello. If I would want to encrypt my system while installing but without vlm what should I do? From my understanding Ubuntu now lets you encrypt while installing without lvm right? [18:08] Donald: this may have changed with recent releases. With kubuntu up to 22.04 LTS, however, LVM was used by default for FDE, and there was no switch to turn it off. If that is still the case, then you will need to set up your file system the way you want it using the live USB, then install. That way you can use the existing partitions you created [18:08] without reformatting. Other examples include BTRFS over LUKS. [18:09] However, if you take that route, do be aware that it is non-standard, and therefore the amount of support available will decrease with the popularity of your topology. Standard lvm + LUKS + ext4 is very well tested and supported, so unless you have a special need to avoid the LVM, I'd suggest just going stock. [18:11] This is an example tutorial for LUKS + BTRFS. Ext4 would be similar: https://mutschler.dev/linux/ubuntu-btrfs-20-04/ [18:27] hi [18:28] i need help [18:28] in install camera driver in kubuntu [19:27] plasma-discover fails to launch after upgrade to latest kubuntu (X11). During upgrade there was a failed repo causing very long delays. upgrade-distro removed it successfully. I don't know if it is related to the upgrade or not. I'm having a problem with Dolphin and Kate on kubuntu 23.04. It used to be the case that when using either of these on protected directories or files it would pop up a password dialog to allow me to continue as sudo. Now it just throws up an error saying I need elevated privileges. I'm sure this must have been covered somewhere before but [22:39] after hours of googling I still can't find an answer. Any suggestions?
