ikwyl6_i get so many blueman-manager popup errors to send reports on 22.04.. is this a common thing with some xubuntu users..? 02:12
guivercikwyl6_, if your release of Xubuntu is 22.04, then your base system is Ubuntu 22.04 (with the Xfce Desktop & others packages included as per a Xubuntu Desktop system not Ubuntu Desktop)...  also if you don't see a report the .crash file will still exist without a .uploaded & you can be asked again (and again until removed or uploaded)06:59
xu-help33wHi, I'm using Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS with LVM disk encryption, which I've just downloaded Xubuntu-desktop on. I've got several queries. Firstly, what packages are required for a GUI on the disk encryption unlock? Secondly, what packages are required for Ethernet and WiFi to work? I've currently configured the wifi yaml file for my network, but I'd11:57
xu-help33wlike the option to flick between available networks when required. At the moment I don't have the option for Ethernet connections, and my WiFi networks shows 'device not ready'. Any assist is appreciated11:57

guivercxu-help33w, Xubuntu no longer support 20.04; flavors support LTS releases only three years thus the oldest supported flavor is 22.04 LTS12:00
guiverchttps://xubuntu.org/news/xubuntu-20-04-released/ for example says its supported until April 202312:01
xu-help33wOkay, this is the release that is currently required to run in my environment due to external factors. Is there any advise regardless?12:01
guivercI'd suggest trying #ubuntu  (20.04 is still supported there)12:02
xu-help33wI'm trying to replicate an existing environment to see what will break when upgrading. It is a requirement to use Xubuntu12:03
guivercand the supported Xubuntu releases here are 22.04 LTS, 22.10 & 23.0412:04
xu-help33wThanks for being useless :)12:05
guivercdisk encryption unlock usually occurs on boot; well before GUI is touched.. (I don't see GUI connection there)... Xubuntu uses network manager (all desktop flavors do; which can change a server networking on install don't forget)12:07
xu-help33wThank you. Do you have any pointers for what I should check for network manager?12:17
xu-help28whi21:15
xu-help28wwhat ver do i need for a something intel 1.1ghz with 1gb ram? =$21:16
xu-help28wobviously 32bit :D21:17
gnrp18.04 is the alst one with 32 bit support21:17
gnrpyou're probably better off witwh a more light-weight distro21:17
xu-help28wlike what? X)21:22
xu-help28wpupy? core?21:24
gnrpHmmm, something lxde-based or so. xfce is too heavyweight by now for 1gb ram probably, depending on what else you want to run21:31
krytarikWell, tbh any modern web browser by now is too heavyweight for 1 GB of RAM, the desktop environment became to merely play a side role here..21:33
xu-help28wyes well said21:34
krytarikBut generally you could look at Debian wrt 32-bit support here.21:38
