StudioUser22Good Evening01:29
StudioUser22While not a total Linux, Ubuntu noob, I am relatively new to Element and IRC.  Am I in the correct venue for UbuntuStudio Support?01:30
EickmeyerYes. Can't guarantee answers at this time though.01:31
StudioUser22Hey, that's ok.  Thanks for responding.01:31
Eickmeyer!ask01:32
ubottuPlease don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience01:32
StudioUser22                                   10-4.. gimme a sec to organize question.01:33

StudioUser22----------------------------------------------------01:55
StudioUser22#I just found the answer to my problem.01:55
StudioUser22# It seem like this crackling noise when changing volume happens when the audio is resampled. So, in order to find out what is the default sample rate of my sound card:01:55
StudioUser22pactl list short sinks01:55
StudioUser22# Since it indicates that my USB sound card is 44100 I changed these values to /etc/pulseaudio/daemon.conf01:55

StudioUser22# If this affects your HDA Intel sound card, there are two methods the driver can read the position reports.01:55
StudioUser22# You can test the two different methods by editing the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file, and add either01:55

EickmeyerThat was *not* in one line.01:59
Eickmeyer!guidelines01:59
ubottuThe guidelines for using the Ubuntu channels can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IRC/Guidelines01:59
EickmeyerStudioUser22: Your question is better for the email list at https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users. NEVER do multiple lines like that in a chat room.02:00
Eickmeyer!morehelp | StudioUser22 But if you insist on using IRC chat02:01
ubottuStudioUser22 But if you insist on using IRC chat: #ubuntustudio sometimes cannot answer your questions in a timely matter, or simply lacks the capacity. For additional sources of help, try #ubuntu if your issue is of a technical nature, or #lau (Linux Audio Users) or #opensourcemusicians if it has to do with the audio stack.02:01
StudioUser22Never used IRC chat before in my life.  I was led to Matrix/Element chatroom from https://ubuntustudio.org/support/ page.  The UbuntuStudio page has some message about bridge not working which led me to this IRC channel.02:06
EickmeyerThat's correct, I'm the one who posted the notice.02:06
EickmeyerBut that doesn't mean you don't do what the !ask message said (all in one line)02:07
EickmeyerMultiple lines doesn't work on IRC.02:07
StudioUser22I've used UbuntuStudio for at least a few years on my laptop without issue.  But on this computer, I'm going to try Linux Mint XFCE or some other distro until I end with one that works on what's really a very common soundbar.  Thanks Eickmeyer02:10
EickmeyerAll of that just because I told you not to paste multiple lines, StudioUser22 ?02:10
