=== Kuraokam1 is now known as Kuraokami [10:02] Hi, just trying to install Lubuntu on an old desktop and i'm struggling with the partitions, the installer is asking me to configure but I cannot get to a configuration where it will let me press "next" [10:05] there is no option to "erase disk", just the option to "manual partitioning" [10:07] [matrix] If your disk has a swap partition you might need to disable that before starting the installer. [10:07] Hi, is that the "sudo swapoff -a" command? [10:08] [matrix] Yes, but you would also want to `umount` that partition too. [10:12] [matrix] Erase disk might not show if your disk is an eMMC too. It looks like a removable drive and the live system automatically mounts it. You should be able to just unmount it before starting the installer and erase should show then. [10:12] Ah, how do I unmount? [10:14] I think the disk is a SATA....around 2Tb [10:14] [matrix] The gui method is to use KDE Partition manager. Select the partition and in the tools menu unmopunt should be there. [10:15] [matrix] *unmount [10:16] [matrix] sorry, partition menu [10:19] Thanks, I have un-mounted what apears to be the only mounted partition, I have restarted the installer and I still get just the "manual partitioning" option. Do I need to restart the machine? [10:20] [matrix] No, you shouldn't need to. If you do restart you will need to make sure everything is unmounted again. [10:22] [matrix] I am not sure why it won't let you select erase disk. I guess verify it is selected in the drop down menu on the partition page. [10:24] [matrix] Which version of Lubuntu are you attempting to install? [10:26] 22.04 [10:29] Could there be more than one partition mounted? I think I have now got the "erase disk option....thanks for your help! [10:29] [matrix] It is possible that there was more than one. [10:30] [matrix] You are welcome. [10:31] looking forward to trying what appears to be a very smart OS [10:32] I'm hitting the install button now, so will probably get disconnected [13:28] so near yet so far [13:29] I have to boot from my usb in 'safe display', then I've managed to get the hard disk install to work....but when I reboot, the display does not work...any suggestions? [13:47] any help greatly appreciated
