jbichavorlon: the desktop icons version already in mantic was an initial implementation (rush for feature freeze); this is after it completed code review00:03

xnoxvorlon: re:bluetooth mac, on windows and on good laptop bluetooth and wifi mac addresses look similar but distinct (i.e. off by one, off by 4, etc)00:21
xnoxmy guess this is to ensure that internet over bluetooth works00:21
xnoxand one can share wifi connection to bluetooth connection and vice versa00:21
xnoxbecause then one needs to send ip stack over both00:22
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- Unapproved: debmutate (mantic-proposed/universe) [0.67 => 0.68] (no packageset) (sync)00:29

tsimonq2...I ran seeded-in-ubuntu and debmutate wasn't in the list, but parsinsert didn't need any kind of acceptance. Both are in Universe. Curious.00:36
=== chris14_ is now known as chris14
vorlontsimonq2: that would be a race condition in the bot; the archive is frozen (there's no partial freeze at the launchpad level) and a separate bot auto-approves unseeded packages, so the irc bot not showing the unapproved + accepted is a bug there01:51

-ubottu:#ubuntu-release- Launchpad bug 2037527 in libwebp (Ubuntu) "[Ffe] libwebp" [Undecided, New]10:08
LocutusOfBorgbut I would say its really mostly bugfix release, just a little sublibrary added10:10
ginggsLocutusOfBorg: thanks :)10:14
LocutusOfBorgthanks to you10:20
jbichaginggs: alacarte is basically just translations: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/alacarte/-/compare/3.44.3...3.50.012:01
seb128ginggs, hey, could you review update-manager in the mantic queue?12:03
ginggsjbicha: thanks12:08
jbichaplease reject rust-bindgen-cli from mantic NEW, it requires the new rust-bindgen but we opted out of that transition for mantic12:09
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- Unapproved: accepted alacarte [sync] (mantic-proposed) [3.50.0-1]12:09
tjaaltonjbicha: opted out for now, at least12:09
tjaaltonI've got all rdeps built on a ppa12:09
jbichatjaalton: oh?12:09
tjaaltonhttps://launchpad.net/~tjaalton/+archive/ubuntu/test12:10
tjaaltonrust-annotate-snippets was a new dependency needed by many12:11
jbichaok, I guess I misunderstood the outcome of yesterday's discussion here12:12
ginggsseb128: the bug referred to in that update-manager upload is a year old, which I see got updated two days ago12:16
ginggsseb128: that FFe/UIFe will be needed first12:17
xnoxtjaalton: note that versioned bindgen can use vendored sources, we do this for the kernel required bindgen. thus if desired we can package new bindgen as versioned with all the deps vendored in if desired.12:49
xnox(generic transition is preferred though)12:49
seb128ginggs, what do you mean that FFe/UIFe will be needed first? the bug has the UIF/FFe info13:01

ginggsseb128: I mean that bug was only turned into a FFe/UIFe two days ago, and an exception needs to be granted first13:07
seb128ginggs, right, which is what I'm pinging about there, getting someone from release team review the exception request :)13:08
seb128it's not that important for mantic itself, but it is high priority for the LTS and by SRU rules we need the fix commited to the current serie first13:08
seb128I would also be fine if the SRU team was wanting to accept the LTSes SRUs before mantic...13:09
ricotzrbasak, hello :), please take a look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/203727413:20
-ubottu:#ubuntu-release- Launchpad bug 2037274 in libreoffice (Ubuntu Lunar) "[SRU] libreoffice 7.5.7 for lunar" [Medium, In Progress]13:20
rbasakricotz: looks like this only entered the queue yesterday. Is there a reason it needs priority over older items in the queue, please?13:25
ginggsseb128: I know v.orlon was looking at that one earlier13:26
ricotzrbasak, there is no particular reason to prioritize it, unfortunately my impression is that if I am not asking here, there won't be much movement13:29
ricotzusually if this gets reviewed on thursdays or fridays its real release will get delayed to another week13:31
rbasakI would really like to speed up SRU processing for microreleases. But at the moment it's really slow for a bunch of reasons that will take time to sort out. For Libreoffice, I see it has no documentation under https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Documentation_for_Special_Cases for example, even though it seems to be a routine thing.13:34
rbasakI also want to spend some time automating a bunch of things that I currently have to check manually for microreleases.13:34
rbasakUntil these things are sorted it seems more optimal to let the SRU team members who had been reviewing libreoffice in the past to continue doing so, but they're not on shift right now. Sorry!13:35
ricotzrbasak, I see, thanks, I am hoping for tomorrow13:38
ricotzrbasak, not sure if this is on your list - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+bug/202808213:39
-ubottu:#ubuntu-release- Launchpad bug 2028082 in glib2.0 (Ubuntu Lunar) "Update glib to 2.76.4" [High, In Progress]13:39
rbasakIn the meantime I am spending time today on my shift investing in SRU things that should help speed things up in the future. This seems to be more on my focus than others at the moment (perhaps because I am naturally inclined to want to invest time in longer term efficiency)13:40
ricotzrbasak, yeah, of course making the process easier is good thing13:41
rbasakYeah glib is a bit stuck too because it's an exception of an exception and needs further discussion and thought to deal with it, and I also don't see any particular reason for urgency having been mentioned.13:42
rbasakI'd like to see RAOF's opinion on the Discourse post I think. I can make a note to raise that with the SRU team generally.13:42
ricotzrbasak, I am already going through the hassle to make a test build and run the autopkgtests for it to catch unpleasant surprises13:42
ricotz(which is not fast at all for libreoffice)13:43
ricotzrbasak, there are several posts of him there13:44
rbasakricotz: that's all good - thanks. What I'd like is for the SRU team to have reviewed and documented everything that happens with libreoffice microrelease SRUs, and automate as much checking for that as possible. Then the SRU team could sign off on the process specifically as applied to this package. The SRU reviews would then become easy because all they'd need to check for is a few points on13:44
rbasakcompliance with what is already agreed, rather than having to make an independent assessment every time, researching what was done previously, etc.13:44
ricotzrbasak, I see, let me know if there is some information which I can add to the sru bug itself13:46
rbasakricotz: I don't want to dive deep right now as I'm working on this other thing :-/13:47
jbicharbasak: I replied to glib bug 2028082 , glib actually has an extensive test suite, been stuck in the queue for a while13:47
-ubottu:#ubuntu-release- Bug 2028082 in glib2.0 (Ubuntu Lunar) "Update glib to 2.76.4" [High, In Progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/202808213:47
rbasakhttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#New_upstream_microreleases has the requirements. I'd like to see a wiki page explaining how the requirements are met. Then future bugs could just link to that.13:47
rbasakjbicha: I've seen it - thanks. What gets me stuck is that I want to know RAOF's opinion on that discussion. I've made a note to discuss it with him.13:48
rbasakProcess-wise, I want to get to a SRU-team-wide decision that is documented, and then nobody needs to get blocked on uncertainty again.13:49
jbichaok thanks. Frustrating time zones!13:49
ricotzrbasak, noted, thanks13:49

vorlontumbleweed: ok, so when it reports ${flavor}-live, it means the daily-live image of $flavor, and not the seed of this name?  that's a bit confusing :/18:48
vorlonseb128: what is the expected timeline for the update-manager SRUs?  SRUs are safer than freeze exceptions and I would be inclined to prefer this being handled as an SRU for mantic as well - especially since if update-manager regresses and doesn't apply updates anymore, it can be hard to get fixes to users19:07
