fabiomirmarAlright, @noahm @mitchdz for when you guys have a chance... quick discussion around amazon-ec2-net-utils... I've been playing with it on Ubuntu, and it's currently available to Lunar and Mantic, and we are working on backporting it to Focal and Jammy... For now, I just wanted to double check what you need to do to let ec2-net-utils "take control" over your network setup after you install it. IIUC, it's just install + remove the netplan yaml + 23:36
fabiomirmarnetplan apply and done... And the reason why you would need to remove the netplan yaml is that otherwise the tool would think you want to override the network setting. Is it so?23:36
noahmyou'll want the 2.4.0 release, which may not be the one you've got. 23:38
noahmIt's triggered by udev and generates systemd-networkd config in /run/systemd/network23:39
noahmSo depending on the priority of the existing config (either manually generated or installed by netplan), it may or may not take over interface management.23:40
noahmThe intent is that it plays nicely with systemd-networkd in general, so overriding its configuration should be in line with your expectations around how all that works.23:42
fabiomirmarI've been using 2.3.0-2, which is what we have in our archives for now... is that too different than 2.4.0?23:44
noahmYeah, 2.4.0 fixes some bugs, some of which can lead to misconfigured routes, which really isn't great.  23:45
fabiomirmarhmmm, ok23:45
fabiomirmarand what priority you mean?23:45
fabiomirmar(when you said "depending on the priority"23:45
