tsimonq2I'm working on a version of lubuntu-update-notifier which uses a systemd unit instead of... a sleep statement in an autostart file :/15:48
tsimonq2I am using the convention of ubuntu/nn-cycle for branches intended on being landed next cycle.15:50
tsimonq2Can anyone think of a simpler naming scheme?15:50
tsimonq2Perhaps... ubuntu/future/nn ?15:50
tsimonq2Yeah... I like that better.15:50
lubot[telegram] <kc2bez> Any of those ^ they seem obvious to follow15:51
tsimonq2I have pushed an initial commit porting lubuntu-update-notifier to user systemd units: https://git.lubuntu.me/Lubuntu/lubuntu-update-notifier/commit/fa2ee62ea86a4ad1bbbf7a2d3d346d0f59e6fbbb16:12
-ubottu:#lubuntu-devel- Commit fa2ee62 in Lubuntu/lubuntu-update-notifier "Rough, initial migration to systemd units."16:12
tsimonq2This is building locally for me now. I will try my best to test it in a virtual machine, so I'll just keep an ISO that's a few days old and try it on there.16:13
tsimonq2If anyone feels like spot checking that commit, go for it.16:13
tsimonq2And, if anyone feels like grabbing my cala-settings-ubuntu diff from mantic REJECTED and putting it in ubuntu/future/nn that would be cool too.16:13
tsimonq2I have some obligations to attend to, I will be back later.16:14
tsimonq2Okay, so I have it working. I just need to figure out how best to clean up the autostart files.17:49
tsimonq2As it is right now, I think the only bug *could* be the update notifier spamming during the upgrade... lemme see.18:15
tsimonq2Perfect. No such thing happens. The existing sh script loaded into memory runs forever in the background anyway. My postinst script scrubs all of those autostart files... and Lintian isn't complaining, so I think we might be good.18:26
tsimonq2I think we have a l-u-n that now uses systemd \o/18:27
tsimonq2It *does* start a little early on user login... but I think that's manageable.18:28
tsimonq2I'd say the last step would be to somehow get some settings from the "Configure Software Updates" tool or similar to work... I'm not sure if KDE has their own thing at all, but some config for this would be nice...18:28
tsimonq2Pushed my changes.18:30
tsimonq2One additional note - the update notifier will never work on the live session. That's intended behavior (that I agree with, tbh.)18:30
lubot[matrix] <kc2bez> Glad we could be your rubber ducky @tsimonq2 :P21:40
lubot[matrix] <kc2bez> Nice work on that!21:41
lubot[telegram] <tsimonq2> You guys are always my rubber ducky, this is open source :P21:49
lubot[telegram] <tsimonq2> Thank you :)21:49
