lotuspsychjegood morning02:13
guivercG'day lotuspsychje 02:14
lotuspsychjeheya guiverc 02:14
guivercroughly every fornight I reboot & boot into my other OS (ubuntu development & lts), and am just back in devel after awhile (update etc) on LTS.  I reboot (from noble) & get grub, select lts etc...  all good, then reboot again & return to GRUB & STUNNED-MULLET-expression, I always reackon grub has changed after using LTS (on this box)..   does that sound reasonable?  or I'm just losing what little of my mind I have left  (I don't see that 02:19
guivercbehavior on other boxes.. i wonder if the update-grub causes the change; expect change only on grub-install I don't use unless required)02:19
lotuspsychjenot sure i follow what happens exactly guiverc whats the bottleneck exactly?02:27
lotuspsychjeyou got a box with 2 ubuntus?02:31
guivercmost of my boxes are dual boot.. LTS & development/latest a common combination (always have a backup should I stuff my used version..)02:33
guivercno problem.. just grub appears to change AFTER i boot jammy & `apt full-upgrade` -- which seems to alter the grub look after reboot.. given I reboot only fornightly; I don't see if often & maybe just confuse how grub looks on this box contrasted with others I boot far more regularly...02:34
guiverc& thanks lotuspsychje 02:34
lotuspsychjeyou mean you get a grub menu? or what changed?02:34
guivercthe appearance of grub changes; the lubuntu-grub-theme was very apparant after using LTS; I'd not noticed it at all before booting LTS (this install was made with xubuntu media)02:35
lotuspsychjeah02:36
lotuspsychjethink thats gonna be a case for EriC^^ :p02:36
guivercmaybe just my mind got distracted.. I'd need to reboot & try again (when updates are available).. & i'll wonder the same thing in 12-16 days probably  (when I'm next due to do same thing, unless prompted to do it sooner for some reason)02:37
lotuspsychjei had a grub issue on my nuc once it wasnt entering grub, so i changed it so the menu appears with a 5sec timeout02:42
Eickmeyerguiverc: So, I think I know what's going on. Every now and then, a security upgrade to grub happens, and it installs over the old one (in either your boot/efi/EFI or your MBR), which will alter the look to your grub depending on if it were changed between the LTS or the dev release.02:43
guivercthat would explain what I see Eickmeyer , esp. as I DO NOT always notice it & thus can pick pattern.. if after some updates (plus my irregular timely reboot/switch) I would not notice the pattern thus the stunned-mullet bewilderment I'm expressing.02:44
guiverc(that maybe makes little-no sense sorry..)02:45
