[00:41] I'm running Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS with an Intel based NIC. The NIC only works if after installing the Server edition I subsequently install the linux-generic-hwe package. If I then later enable fips the kernel seems to be replaced with a version that no longer supports the NIC and re-adding support in a similar manner doesn't just work.. My [00:42] current plan is to investigate kernel build options between the desired kernel and working kernel and build a custom one. Is this a path that you folks have seen taken before? Any advice related to breaking fips compliance?
