bhechinger | Is OvenWerks around these days or is he off doing non-internet things? | 14:00 |
---|---|---|
OvenWerks | bhechinger: non-programing things... not so much computer either I guess. Building two computers for my sons is about it. Doing more playing (music) and building a dinghy (untill it froze outside) for our boat. | 19:24 |
bhechinger | OvenWerks: oh, sounds cool! I just had some ffado/fw questions but I think I got them all sorted. | 19:24 |
bhechinger | I'm back to a mostly working system although it would be better if RaySession would work. Did you need to do anything funky to get that to talk to pipewire? | 19:25 |
OvenWerks | cool, My FW box has stopped working :P I have not had time to look at it though | 19:25 |
OvenWerks | I haven't used raysession really, so wrong person to ask. | 19:26 |
bhechinger | Darn | 19:28 |
bhechinger | what about the pipewire-pulse stuff? Right now I have pulse enabled so apps that want to send sound via pulse just work, but what about my old mic bridge? I don't understand how to do that in pipewire. I used to have a pulse source bridge that was my mic being routed out of ardour and into the pulse bridge. I don't know how to do that now. :-D | 19:29 |
bhechinger | Hmm, maybe I don't need raysession. Maybe I can do everything I need with auto-starting apps via the normal kde mechanism and just have a script that runs and does a bunch of pw-link calls to get things setup the way I want. | 19:31 |
OvenWerks | bhechinger: pipewire should just act like pulse and jack already. So disable pulse and everything should work. All devices should show up on the jack graph along with all the "pulse" applications and jack applications | 22:11 |
bhechinger | Right, I have actual pulse disabled | 22:12 |
bhechinger | but I need a bridge to get mic output out, but I think I see how to add that into the pipewire config. | 22:12 |
bhechinger | right now I'm doing interesting things with wireplumber events to auto-route the way I want when apps start | 22:12 |
OvenWerks | so your mic should already show up on the jack graph. | 22:13 |
OvenWerks | Ah. | 22:13 |
bhechinger | right, but firefox (for example) doesn't see it as a device it can use | 22:13 |
bhechinger | I need to bridge that gap | 22:13 |
OvenWerks | I thi nk I creayed a bridge to my default output and made the bridge my default output. | 22:13 |
bhechinger | I don't remember what I had now but I think I had at least two outputs | 22:14 |
bhechinger | because the mic was a special case that wasn't used everywhere | 22:14 |
bhechinger | but the default one was | 22:14 |
OvenWerks | you can use pavucontrol to set defaults. | 22:14 |
OvenWerks | still | 22:15 |
OvenWerks | I spend a lot more time on my laptop than my music machine these days.... so harder to remember. My thought being I would wait for pipewire to settle out and mature | 22:16 |
OvenWerks | you are also supposed to be able to use jack as a pipewire device but I have yet to get that working.... well actually I have not spent much time on it because PW was changing alll the time. | 22:17 |
