IrcsomeBot_<myfenris> thanks for the MoM (re @RikMills: Please all read: https://lists.launchpad.net/kubuntu-council/msg01142.html)01:08
IrcsomeBot_<myfenris> cant wait for the upcoming LTS with plasma 601:10
arraybolt3I think the upcoming LTS is going to be using Plasma 5.27.01:23
arraybolt3could be wrong01:23
arraybolt3but I'm pretty sure that's the plan01:24
IrcsomeBot_<tsimonq2> *dayjob hat on* Kubuntu 24.04 shall use Plasma 5 and Calamares. That was the final decision from the Kubuntu Council.01:33
IrcsomeBot_<tsimonq2> :)01:33
valorie@myfenris I'm sure that we'll have testing repos as soon as LTS work is mostly done02:15
valoriewe alllll want it02:15
valorie24.10 will be plasma 6 - a new qt/+entire ported KDE stack is too chancy for an LTS02:16
IrcsomeBot_<tsimonq2> *dayjob hat on* Kubuntu 24.04 shall use Plasma 5 and Calamares. That was the final decision from the Kubuntu Council.05:42
IrcsomeBot_<myfenris> ai ai 🫡05:43
valorie@myfenris we will def. want you as a tester soon!07:59
valorieif things go *very* well, perhaps in a "proposed" repos before the LTS is released08:00
valoriebut there is a lotta testing between now and then08:00

arraybolt3sgmoore: heya! How much longer are you intending to be around? I heard there was stuff to be done with Calamares - I don't know if that's a priority for you today or not, but I was hoping on getting started and wondered if you wanted to lead and I try to help, or if you'd like to tell me what you want to see in a Kubuntu Calamares and I can try to just do it and you review it later on.18:00
* arraybolt3 syncs the Noble ISO in the mean time18:00
arraybolt3(for context Lubuntu already uses the Calamares installer so my idea was going to be to use our config as a base and port it to Kubuntu, similar to what was done previously with Ubuntu Studio back when it used Calamares. Then try to figure out OEM install mode.)18:02

arraybolt3(testing IRC client weirdness)21:01
arraybolt3ok, I've done a chaotic port of the Calamares config for Lubuntu over to Kubuntu just to get the beginnings of a base to build from. It looks like a Frankenstein's monster currently due to the branding still being all Kubuntu-based, but it looks like it's actually working, at least to begin with.21:59

arraybolt3ok so it crashed at the very end BUT it got almost all the way through!22:01
arraybolt3holy smoke it actually worked, it's booting the installed system now22:02
arraybolt3yep, I can boot after that22:03
arraybolt3feels like the time I "installed" a floppy disk using duct tape22:04
arraybolt3*floppy disk drive22:04
arraybolt3so now we just need an OEM mode, some technical adjustments, and a heaping helping of actually good branding.22:06
arraybolt3and some localization22:06
arraybolt3I guess next I'll download a Neon ISO and figure out how they implemented OEM mode, then try to hack that in22:08
