[00:25] sgmoore: for whenever you have time: this change is not in git: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/713561105/kdewebkit_5.115.0-0ubuntu1~ubuntu24.04~ppa2_5.115.0-0ubuntu1~ubuntu24.04~ppa3.diff.gz [00:37] also, please try on your fw clones: [00:37] do-all check-changes [00:38] (in case there's something else pending) [02:44] I did some testing on the new installer prompt, fixed some bugs, seems to be working mostly great. However, we have some problems with language changing, it seems that KDE has a different method of changing system localization than LXQt had, and I don't know what method it's using. [02:45] I'll probably dig into the source code of one of the KCMs to find out the secret, but anyway, so far the "Try" and "Install" buttons work, the network drop-down is *probably* buggy but seems to sorta work (I'll be digging into that further), and the language dropdown is broken entirely. [02:45] so hey, it's progress! [09:02] arraybolt3: check neon to see what they did for localization [09:02] santa_: oops sorry, doing a do-all git push now [09:03] RikMills: Done [12:11] sgmoore: thanks, from apps this change is missing: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/713393305/marble_4%3A23.08.4-0ubuntu2~ubuntu24.04~ppa1_4%3A23.08.4-0ubuntu2~ubuntu24.04~ppa2.diff.gz [12:11] also there is a ~ppa2 version in the archive: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/marble [13:18] sgmoore: here https://git.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/+git/breeze-plymouth/commit/?h=kubuntu_noble_staging&id=6db73a9ee37960565d119da844e678f77c4c4782 you are removing .gitattributes disabling the changelog merger [13:18] -ubottu:#kubuntu-devel- Commit 6db73a9 in ~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/+git/breeze-plymouth "Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes:" [13:48] sgmoore: also, https://git.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/+git/kalgebra/log/?h=kubuntu_noble_archive -> 7 commits like "release to archive" or "release to noble" what happened there? [13:50] and same thing with the .gitattributes here: https://git.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/+git/kdeplasma-addons/commit/?id=d7820b7b04663e704bbe2972a2494512c671d627 [13:50] -ubottu:#kubuntu-devel- Commit d7820b7 in ~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/+git/kdeplasma-addons "Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes: kubuntu_noble_staging" [13:54] also I see kalgebra is not the only git repo with multiple "release to noble" commits: https://code.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/+git/akregator/+ref/kubuntu_noble_archive [13:54] what's going on? [16:03] sgmoore: looks like Neon doesn't let you change the language on the live system in an easy way :P the closest they have is the language selector on the bootloader screen and choosing a non-English language there (I went with Spanish) doesn't change the language of the live session. [16:05] oh but the keyboard selection somehow took hold, odd [16:33] hey, figured it out! Missing a locale-gen call. [16:33] perfect, that'll almost certainly work. [18:01] Got locale changing working. Keyboard layouts aren't being set properly *yet* but I assume that's going to be an easy fix. [18:08] hey! looks like keyboard-layout-specific LUKS passphrases are also going to work! [18:08] since I just unintentionally installed a VM with a Dutch keymap LUKS passphrase :P or at least I think it was Dutch [18:24] ok, I'm going to abandon keyboard layout. This is a change the user can make themselves in the live session or in Calamares, and it's rather difficult to implement in the installer prompt. [18:28] language changing is working well, but there are way too many language choices to be functional and most of them don't work. [18:29] So what I think I'll do is change this from an autodetected list to a hardcoded one so that only supported languages are shown. The last thing we need is someone to say "hmm, do I need to pick Chinese (Cantonese) or Chinese (China)?" and click the wrong one. [19:57] What team do I need to be a part of to push to repos in the kubuntu-packaging project? I'm hoping to push the new kubuntu-installer-prompt there before uploading it to Launchpad. [19:58] Alternatively if someone is here who can help with this, I'm happy to throw you a tarball so you can push. [19:58] tsimonq2: ^ [20:11] Let me take a look at LP arrabolt3 see if I can work it ou [20:11] t [20:16] Hmmm so looks like you'd need https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa [20:16] or Kubuntu Ninjas [20:16] https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ninjas [20:17] I am not a member of either, so I can't help further. Rik Mills, Scarlett or Simon should be able to help further [20:18] Makes sense. Both of those sound like something I probably shouldn't be added to until I've contributed to Kubuntu a bit more. Is it OK if I just upload the package for now and get the code in Git later? [20:18] I think so [20:40] arraybolt3: You have more than earned credentials. I am happy to add you [20:43] done [20:50] thank you, will get it pushed soon [21:00] https://code.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/+git/kubuntu-installer-prompt [21:40] arraybolt3: "will either launch Calamares or LXQt" [21:41] looks like something escaped my cleanup [21:41] that obviosly needs changing [21:41] yeah [21:41] it does launch Plasma, and I tried to remove all mentions of Lubuntu and LXQt from the app, but I see I missed one :P [21:41] it's fine [21:42] * arraybolt3 jots down to fix that in the next upload [21:42] I would even say something to promising to fix a a new upload [21:42] and not bother with in the NEW review [21:43] good point [21:44] some many time I have done that. promised to fix something in a follow up upload when a NEW thing gets approved [21:44] the archive team are usually quite accepting of that [21:46] Got the fix in Git, also noted it down in the changelog, but left it UNRELEASED. [21:47] So that way no one will forget :D [22:51] A little bit more work on the website upgrade: https://invent.kde.org/teams/distribution-kubuntu/2024-25-strategic-plan/-/issues/14 [22:51] -ubottu:#kubuntu-devel- Issue 14 in teams/distribution-kubuntu/2024-25-strategic-plan "Matrix Documentation for upgrade kubuntu.org" [Opened]
