ashafqHas anyone able to feed gnome-calendar with iCloud account?00:05
chico_So, how does this work?01:42
sarnoldjust like that :)01:43
sarnoldyou ask a question and hang out for a while and if someone knows, they'll reply01:43
chico_got it, thanks! :)01:44
chico_App images(like or dislike)?01:52
sarnoldthey're usually big blobs of binary things supplied by someone else, i'm not a fan01:53
sarnoldbut loads of people seem to like them, so maybe i'm in the wrong on this01:53
chico_True, I use them but it's because I can store them on usb to save hard drive space without the need of installing from deb01:55
rboxi like big blobs and i can not lie01:55
sarnoldapp images usually bundle all their libraries etc.. a deb will probably re-use *some* of the libraries you've already got installed01:56
leftyfbchico_: this more of a support channel. If you would like to have other discussions, feel free to /join #ubuntu-discuss or #ubuntu-offtopic01:56
sarnoldrbox: hehe01:56
chico_ok,guess this is as bad as askubuntu02:00

P1roHi, i was messing with limits.conf and 99-sysctl.conf, i lose access over local keyboard, any user or even root, i can only access tru ssh and user, but sudo su dont work ( su: cannot open session: Cannot make/remove an entry for the specified session ) i can sudo -i or sudo root /bin/bash, i set all files back to default (from a backup) but i cant still access local, only ss and still cant "sudo su"05:06
P1roalso try to create a new user, but same issue05:06

semCan you backup data and reinstall?05:14
P1rosem: yes i could, but i wanna know why this is happening05:15
semI am not smart enough to know ... Maybe if you describe it on askubuntu more people will get a chance to see it P1ro05:23
P1rosem using ubuntu05:23
MenzadorP1ro: Why do you want to do [ sudo su ]?06:21
P1roMenzador: is not all about sudo su, its about the issue, whici is not letting me login from local06:22
P1roonly tru ssh06:22
MenzadorWhy did you mess with limits.conf and 99-sysctl.conf?06:23
MenzadorWhat was your intent?06:23
P1roim doing stress test06:23
MenzadorIf you're just doing a CPU stress test, mprime would've done the trick06:25
MenzadorAt any rate, if you still have SSH access to the system, as a user in the sudo group, you may be able to restore things as they were06:27
MenzadorI assume this persists across a reboot?06:33
P1roMenzador: yes, persist atfer reboots06:36
P1roMenzador: yes, i can access with ssh and sudo -i or sudo -u root /bin/bash06:37
MenzadorAnd you said you restored the original configuration files from a backup, correct?06:38
P1roMenzador: yes, i have commented the lines i have changed in the past, still trying to figure if there is something i have restore, even made a python script to compare files with backup06:39

xrandrHello. I was wondering if anyone can help me create a XFS filesystem ontop of a ZFS pool. I am using Ubuntu 22.416:43
ravageThat sounds like a not so great idea. But what is the problem?16:44
xrandrI have a storage server that has 7 3.84 TB drives in it. I created a zpool with the drives in it as a RAIDZ2. I need to install XFS over it so that Veeam can use its fast cloning ability\16:45
ravagezfs create -s -V 50G ssd/xfs_data; mkfs.xfs /dev/zvol/ssd/xfs_data16:49
ravagessd is the pool name. and you maybe want a different size16:50
ravagealso -s is sparse. so if you want to really reserve the whole space dont use that16:51
xrandrthank you17:06
ashafqIs Gnome calendar default on Ubuntu 24.04?17:09
lotuspsychje!next | ashafq17:09
ubottuashafq: Noble Numbat is the codename for Ubuntu 24.04. For technical support, see #ubuntu-next. For testing and QA feedback and help, see #ubuntu-quality.17:09
oerheksyes, gnome calendar is available standard for years now17:10
oerheksbut lotuspsychje is correct, join #next for support17:10
leftyfbashafq: you were told 3 days ago to seek support for unreleased versions of ubuntu in #ubuntu-next. It was also recommended not to install it unless you are interested in finding and reporting bugs17:10
* oerheks makes a note17:12
ashafqDid anyone make Gnome calendar work with iCloud account?17:24
ashafqleftyfb, thanks for your reply.17:24
leftyfbashafq: https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/nzi1p1/comment/h1pm2td/17:25
leftyfbnot sure if it works17:25
ashafqleftyfb, I saw that tutorial and that did not work.17:25
leftyfbashafq: personally, I don't use the icloud calendar, I add my google calendars to my iphone as good is more portable17:25
leftyfbgood/google17:26
oerheksiCloud offers a CalDAV format, so yes17:29
ashafqoerheks: it's been crashing my gnome calendar. Maybe I should update it or compile a newer version?17:31
oerheksupdate what ubuntu version?17:32
leftyfbashafq: first test the URL you have on another client. See if it works before assuming the issue is with gnome calendar17:32
ashafqleftyfb: works on thunderbird.17:32
oerheksalso evolution works with icloud calendar.17:32
leftyfbthen I would file a bug with gnome calendar17:33
