-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: colord-gtk [arm64] (noble-proposed/main) [0.3.1-1] (ubuntu-desktop)00:00
mwhudsonvorlon: i totally don't see where it's being used00:01
mwhudsonlet's try commenting the dependency out and seeing where it fails i guess00:02
vorlonmwhudson: didn't fail00:03
mwhudsonvorlon: lolz00:03
vorlonso maybe I want to upload this to the main archive, not to the bootstrap archive00:03
mwhudsonwell both i guess?00:05
vorlonwell one or the other first :)00:06
vorlonanyway yeah I grepped the source tree for all of the commands ghostscript ships and didn't find any of them referenced00:06
mwhudsonmy local build succeeded too00:08
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: rrdtool [amd64] (noble-proposed/main) [1.7.2-4.1ubuntu1] (core)00:10
vorlonright, doesn't build in main archive yet because it needs an apt that doesn't depend on libgnutls3000:12
vorlonhttps://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnupg2/2.4.4-2ubuntu12/+build/2788084300:12
vorlonso that needs the apt bootstrap that doesn't depend on gpgv, then we bootstrap both apt and gnupg2, then we readd the gpgv dep00:13
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: rrdtool [ppc64el] (noble-proposed/main) [1.7.2-4.1ubuntu1] (core)00:13
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: rrdtool [s390x] (noble-proposed/main) [1.7.2-4.1ubuntu1] (core)00:13
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: rrdtool [arm64] (noble-proposed/main) [1.7.2-4.1ubuntu1] (core)00:16
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: imlib2 [amd64] (noble-proposed/universe) [1.12.1-1.1] (i386-whitelist, ubuntu-mate, ubuntukylin, ubuntustudio, xubuntu)00:17
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: imlib2 [s390x] (noble-proposed/universe) [1.12.1-1.1] (i386-whitelist, ubuntu-mate, ubuntukylin, ubuntustudio, xubuntu)00:17
mwhudsonhmm i am confused my chdist thinks that the build-deps are uninstallable even without gnupg200:18
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: imlib2 [ppc64el] (noble-proposed/universe) [1.12.1-1.1] (i386-whitelist, ubuntu-mate, ubuntukylin, ubuntustudio, xubuntu)00:18
vorlonmwhudson: build-deps of which?00:19
mwhudsonvorlon: gnupg2, i meant to say "without ghostscript"00:19
vorlonmwhudson: using which set of ppas?00:19
mwhudsonvorlon: archive-bootstrap and ~doko/bootstrap300:20
vorlonhmm00:20
vorlonwhat does it say is uninstallable?00:20
mwhudsonwell the complaint is that00:21
mwhudson libgnutls30t64 : Breaks: libgnutls30 (< 3.8.3-1.1ubuntu2) but 3.8.3-1ubuntu2 is to be installed00:21
mwhudsonE: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.00:21
vorlonwell, waiting for https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnupg2/2.4.4-2ubuntu12 to be ready for a binary copy, then we'll see in the ppa00:21
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: imlib2 [i386] (noble-proposed/universe) [1.12.1-1.1] (i386-whitelist, ubuntu-mate, ubuntukylin, ubuntustudio, xubuntu)00:21
mwhudsonbut it seems to be because dpkg-dev depends on gnupg00:22
vorlon(I could simulate on my armhf container but that's busy with the rustc bootstrap and I don't want to get lost)00:22
vorlondpkg-dev> lol00:22
vorlonthat's only a recommends afaics?00:22
vorlonbuild env should happily axe recommends00:23
mwhudsoni think perhaps on the builders it can get away with not upgrading it but chdist apt-get install --dry-run doesn't want to / can't propose installing an older version?00:23
mwhudsonoh hm00:23
mwhudsonit works on the builders obviously so something about my local simulation is off00:23
mwhudsonah yes --no-install-recommends helps00:25
mwhudsonas does not trying to dry-run install a stale deb00:25

tsimonq2ubuntu-release: We have now gone from one flavor livefs failure (ubuntucinnamon) to five (lubuntu, kubuntu, ubuntucinnamon, ubuntustudio, and edubuntu).00:43
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New: accepted propellor [armhf] (noble-proposed) [5.13-3build1]00:43
tsimonq2I suspect this set of failures will propagate further.00:43
arraybolt3looks grub2 and libefivar1t64 related00:44
tsimonq2Specific failure lines:00:44
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New: accepted gimp [amd64] (noble-proposed) [2.10.36-3]00:44
tsimonq2The following packages have unmet dependencies: libefivar1t64 : Breaks: libefivar1 (< 38-3.1)00:44
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New: accepted gimp [ppc64el] (noble-proposed) [2.10.36-3]00:44
arraybolt3and for Ubuntu Studio, "/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: failed to get canonical path of `overlay'."00:44
vorlonok; I'll trigger no-change rebuilds against libefivar1t6400:44
vorlongrub-probe> well that could be related to the most recent grub2 fixes; please file a bug against grub2 so mkukri can have a look00:45
arraybolt3will do00:46
tsimonq2thanks to you both :)00:46
vorlononly 3 packages depending on libefivar100:46
tsimonq2(Figured I'd err on the side of caution with the amount of current entanglement by pinging.)00:46
vorlonmokutil needs openssl to also transition however00:47
vorlonso that's uh going to be a bit00:47
RikMillsI guess efibootmgr is a priority to NCR00:47
arraybolt3https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/205637500:47
-ubottu:#ubuntu-release- Launchpad bug 2056375 in grub2 (Ubuntu) "Ubuntu Studio ISO fails to build: '/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: failed to get canonical path of `overlay'.'" [Undecided, New]00:47
arraybolt3not very detailed but should give whoever is in the know the needed hints00:48
vorlongnupg2 binaries finally published, so let's see what this does now https://launchpad.net/~canonical-foundations/+archive/ubuntu/archive-bootstrap/+build/2788093501:06
vorlonbuild-deps installed01:09
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: rrdtool [riscv64] (noble-proposed/main) [1.7.2-4.1ubuntu1] (core)01:10
tsimonq2🎉01:10
dbungertgood old 01f38901:16
vorlonchecking whether I can bypass this libefi problem by a priority change01:59
mwhudsonvorlon: it built, even01:59
mwhudson(gnupg2 i mean)01:59
* vorlon nods01:59
vorlonno such luck on priority, this is optional01:59
vorlonmwhudson: so I think the clean no-change rebuild of apt I'm about to upload will Just Work02:00
vorlonhttps://launchpad.net/~canonical-foundations/+archive/ubuntu/archive-bootstrap/+build/27880961 no build-dep problems here either02:06
mwhudsonso far so good02:11
vorlonbuilt successfully02:12
vorloncopying gnupg2 to the main archive, and apt as soon as it publishes02:12
mwhudsonuh https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/2.79.3-3ubuntu1/+build/2788016702:16
vorlonwell jbicha mentioned fixing it for !armhf02:16
vorlonapparently at the expense of setting the armhf bootstrap back a step02:17
vorlonmwhudson: ok I'm doing a stage1 bootstrap build of systemd now; it's worth having a look at the dependencies required to get a non-bootstrap build done02:29
vorlontss2, microhttp, etc02:29
RAOFapw: Yeah, but nobody is going to be scanning -rejected for packages to NEW review (and I didn't want to review those packages _now_)02:35
=== chris14_ is now known as chris14
-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- New binary: telepathy-glib [riscv64] (noble-proposed/universe) [0.24.2-0.2] (kubuntu)02:43
mwhudsonvorlon: i see libcurl4-openssl-dev libmicrohttpd-dev libpolkit-gobject-1-dev libtss2-dev as the problematic ones02:54
mwhudsonalthough i thought curl was built now?02:54
vorlonmwhudson: ignore curl for now, that's a long way coming02:54
mwhudsonok02:55
mwhudsoni assume libpolkit-gobject-1-dev  is hung up on glib/gobject-introspection02:55
vorlonwe have a bootstrap build of curl maybe? but a full curl build is downstream of rustc02:55
mwhudsonah02:55
mwhudsonvorlon: so i think socat needs a build in the bootstrap archive. can we just copy it there with binaries, let it build on the missing arch (i.e. armhf) then copy it back?02:59
vorlonmwhudson: yes02:59
mwhudsonthats unless it builds in the archive now, let's find out02:59
mwhudsonnope03:02
vorlonhmph, systemd ftbfs on amd64, either the build profile handling in the package is incomplete or it's broken by my hacks to debian/control wrt profiles03:13
vorlonGOOD NEWS armhf failed the same way03:15
sarnoldYAY03:19
mwhudsonok well i have the missing rdeps for the easy missing rdeps of full systemd building03:20
mwhudsonafk for a few yet again, will copy some more things around when i get back03:20
vorlonmwhudson: socat built03:23
mwhudsonvorlon: ok no change rebuild of libmicrohttpd uploaded to ppa04:05
mwhudsonoof libtpms apparently takes forever04:05
mwhudsonum spot the difference? https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libtpms/0.9.3-0ubuntu2/+build/25645539 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libtpms/0.9.3-0ubuntu2/+build/2564553904:06
mwhudsoni mean https://launchpad.net/~canonical-foundations/+archive/ubuntu/archive-bootstrap/+build/2788100804:07
mwhudsonit's nearly done now but 1h vs 6 mins??04:07
mwhudsonwell boo https://launchpadlibrarian.net/717926685/buildlog_ubuntu-noble-armhf.tpm2-tss_4.0.1-7.1ubuntu2_BUILDING.txt.gz04:56
mwhudsonwas there something about curl not shipping a good .pc file?04:57
vorlonthe issue was that the curl nognutls profile didn't stop it from shipping a package, it just didn't have any relevant contents05:27
vorloncopied xen to the bootstrap ppa, because it's also in the systemd build-deps (ick)05:28
vorlonok not sure what the deal is with libmicrohttpd, the current apt in the archive definitely doesn't depend on libgnutls3005:29
vorlonand, not reproducible for me locally05:30
vorlonhmm. xen also complaining about apt, also not reproducible locally05:35
vorlonmwhudson: uploading a curl with gnutls disabled harder05:38
vorlonprobably requires deleting the previous source version from the ppa05:39
vorlon(to clear out the old broken binaries)05:39
vorlonalso copying apt back into the ppa which shouldn't matter, but???05:40
vorlonarraybolt3: ok the grub-probe issue is happening during the postrm of plymouth-theme-ubuntustudio. Which... should not be getting removed.08:03
vorlonarraybolt3: something is forcing removal of libefivar1t64 after it's already been successfully installed?!08:04
vorlonso that needs figuring out08:04

tobheheyo, there are two OpenSSL MRs that we'd like to get in for 24.04. One is an update to 3.0.13 from adrien, the other are a few FIPS changes. In terms of process: is it better if we open a single bug or two freeze exception bugs? It would probably makes sense to rebase the FIPS changes onto the 3.0.13 update, otherwise we have to test everything twice14:06

jbichavorlon: I've reset glib for bootstrapping armhf, still needs systemd & pam to be figured out first. Also gobject-introspection should be ready once glib builds17:44
vorlonjbicha: "reset" means what here?  you've reuploaded the broken glib2.0 to noble-proposed?17:45
jbichavorlon: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/2.79.3-3ubuntu2/+latestbuild/armhf17:47
dokovorlon: please don't copy llvm-toolchain-18 from the bootstrap ppa into the distro, there's also a llvm-18 build running for riscv64 in the archive. this is the first build, which stays usuable when llvm builds are out-of-sync17:55

vorlonthe apt conflicts: doesn't seem to be working as well in the main archive as in the bootstrap ppa. We may be missing a copy of something to the main archive; in the meantime, will be copying more things to the ppa for building18:40

mwhudsonvorlon, doko: should i look into the tpm2-tss failure19:06
mwhudson?19:06
vorlonmwhudson: yes please19:06
dokonot starting anyting new here for tonight19:06
mwhudsonvorlon: can i do the build on canonistack without running you out of disk? :)19:06
vorlonso glib2.0 built successfully now in the bootstrap ppa19:06
vorlonmwhudson: do it in the container please rather than spinning up an schroot19:07
mwhudsonvorlon: ack19:07
vorlonmwhudson: with mk-build-deps so I can clean it after :)19:07
jbichavorlon: yay!!19:08

vorlonjuliank: oh, removing mokutil binaries doesn't matter anyway, mokutil is blocked on openssl19:13
vorlonjbicha: er but you've uploaded over it with -3ubuntu3 so now I can't copy back19:19
vorlonwell, I can19:19
vorlonbut I'm going to remove -3ubuntu3 first to do it19:19
jbichaok19:20
vorlonmwhudson: ^^ anyway it seems we're making progress on glib2.0 so systemd should be buildable soon19:20
vorlonprovided you fix tss219:20
mwhudsonvorlon: ok!19:21
vorlonjbicha: also I'm going to let the riscv64 glib2.0 build finish first, it's far enough along19:21
vorlonseems like debugedit is spending an awful lot of time doing nothing useful on riscv64 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/2.79.3-3ubuntu3/+build/2788232619:22
vorlonmwhudson: and I guess someone is going to have to NMU xen and tpm2-tss in Debian hmm19:24
mwhudsonthese failures are very strange19:30
mwhudsonand i forgot to start the build in screen, oops19:39

vorlonjbicha: does gobject-introspection just need a straight rebuild against the bootstrap glib2.0?21:49
jbichavorlon: yes, at least that's what I intended21:52
vorlonjbicha: ok, let me try to do that now in the bootstrap ppa21:52
vorlon(given the build log I think it's also still likely to fail in the main archive right now)21:53
jbichaif that works, I expect the next step is to drop the bootstrap changes for glib2.0 but keep the Build-Depends disabled I mentioned in https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/2.79.3-3ubuntu221:58
tsimonq2ubuntu-release: In a bit of a holding pattern right now, but Ubuntu Unity would like to switch to Calamares ASAP. I have everything ready to upload. Are you particular on who submits the FFE? Do you even want an FFE? Please advise.22:38
tsimonq2In other news, I have three FFEs on the way. First is enabling Active Directory support for Calamares, second is refactoring the backend for snap dependency autoresolution, third is adding open network support to both kubuntu-installer-prompt and lubuntu-installer-prompt.22:41
tsimonq2Funny enough, I have many more reservations about the last item than the first two. I've Very Thoroughly tested the AD patch, and I've already heavily tested that snap support ... with a daily of snapd :P22:42
arraybolt3tsimonq2: I already have an FFE for Ubuntu Unity Calamares.22:59
