[15:58] Eickmeyer: I would find this interesting: https://github.com/brummer10/guitarix.vst [15:59] This is different from the group of lv2 plugins in that it is like taking the standalone guitarix and making the whole thing one plugin. [16:00] It is also different from the lv2 plugins in that it uses JUICE for the GUI. [16:01] I have found that using guitarix plugins on two Ardour channels/tracks at the same time crashes Ardour... even using all ubuntu packages. [16:02] I suspect this is because of the GUI which is based on gtk. [16:04] SO I suspect the vst3 plugin may behave much better. I hope the GUI change travels through the rest of plugins. [16:05] Hmm, I guess I should ask if JUICE is even allowed in the debian/ubuntu ecosystem in the first place. [16:07] In theory, the vst3 plugin should be able to run even on a system it is not compiled on so long as the cpu it is compiled for matches. [16:08] I have not tried putting guitarix inside a Carla vst/lv2 instance and using two of those in Ardour. [16:10] It is unfortunate that this just arrived last week. I don't know if there is time to include it in 24.04 anyway. [16:12] OvenWerks: We're past feature freeze, so no. :( [16:27] SHould anyone ask for it. There is a prebuilt zip on their web site [16:27] It seems to work at least on 23.10 [16:28] Just extract into ~/.vst3/ and go. [16:29] So far I can drop it into two tracks without crashing. [16:35] Eickmeyer: github used to display licence on the main page. it doesn't seem to do that anymore [16:42] OvenWerks: License on the github main page or of the project in question? [16:48] project main page [16:49] It may be that guitarix has the licenses file in an odd place\ [16:49] it pulls in a lot of code from the main guitarix repo [16:55] It is just guitarix because the copying file is not in the top directory [17:12] Eickmeyer: the default chat app Quassel, does not seem to have matrix set up. [17:12] Is there something new for 24.04? [17:12] Quassel is just an IRC client? I'm confused. [17:13] Im not finding how to add matrix.... it may be possible but not obvious [17:14] settings has interface and irc and nothing else [17:15] Oh, I haven't added anything official on the website yet. It's in the Ubuntu Studio Information > Ubuntu Studio Support Chat, takes you to a website and you can pick your client, but Ubuntu prefers Element. [17:15] Also, check the topic line here. [17:15] Simply clicking that does essentially the same thing but takes you to our new dev chat. [17:16] Yeah the topic line shows a web site but I would prefer a client [17:16] Well, there's two options if you want Element: from element.io or `sudo snap install element-desktop`. [17:16] The website in the link guides you through that too. [17:17] I'd recommend Element as it's most feature-complete. [17:23] ok, I will look around. [17:23] You will, however, need to set-up an account initially. [17:30] Yeah, the link in subject doesn't get you there. it just gives a list of apps. [17:30] Once you choose one you seem locked with it. [17:32] Nah, where it says "Continue with ____" there's a "Change" button. [17:32] Some apps are missing encryption and other features, sadly. [17:33] Top two are Element and Nheko, IMO. [17:40] They are stupid picky about passwords [17:43] Yeah. There have been some bad actors, so they're trying to weed that out.
