juerghlinux-buildinfo?06:16
arighijuergh, you mean using linux-buildinfo instead of linux-doc to determine the kernel version? That makes sense to me, but we still need to patch dkms (and potentially there's something else that is explicitly referring to linux-doc)09:14
matttbeHello, I'm using Ubuntu devel (Noble). With the last kernel 6.8.0-11 (based on the rc4?), Firefox Beta (installed from Mozilla's repo) doesn't work: each tab crashes (I didn't check more). If I switch back to v6.6, I can continue to use Firefox. Is it a known issue? Should I report it elsewhere?11:38
matttbe(I didn't see anything on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bugs, but maybe I'm not looking at the right place)11:38
matttbe(BTW, not related to this issue with Firefox, but to the kernel: it would be nice to align IPRoute2 version (6.1) with the kernel one (6.8) :) → https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/iproute2/+bug/2051672 )11:42
-ubottu:#ubuntu-kernel- Launchpad bug 2051672 in iproute2 (Ubuntu) "Merge iproute2 with the latest Debian version: 6.8.0-1 from testing/unstable (main)" [Undecided, New]11:42
arighimatttbe, I'm on the latest 6.8, firefox seems to work for me, is this happening also with the stock firefox (from snap)?12:53
matttbearighi: thank you for your reply! (and thank you for virtme-ng :) ). Sorry, I don't have Firefox from Snap. I don't know if I can have both at the same time. I installed the packages from https://hacks.mozilla.org/2023/11/firefox-developer-edition-and-beta-try-out-mozillas-deb-package/12:58
matttbeI have Thunderbird installed from snap and it works well.12:58
matttbeor maybe there was a bug in the v6.8-rc4?12:59
ogra_matttbe, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/204684413:03
-ubottu:#ubuntu-kernel- Launchpad bug 2046844 in qutebrowser (Ubuntu) "AppArmor user namespace creation restrictions cause many applications to crash with SIGTRAP" [High, Confirmed]13:04
arighioh indeed! good point ogra_, I thought that was fixed already in the AA userspace, but apparently it's still an issue13:06
ogra_well, it requires a profile for each and every of these non-archive browsers ... i doubt that will be fixed quickly 13:07
ogra_(beyond the known packages from the  archive, which are probably already fixed)13:08
arighimaybe a quick workaround can be to just `echo 0 | sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/apparmor_restrict_unprivileged_userns`?13:09
ogra_there is a workaround for firefox by using an env var in one of the last comments 13:14
matttbeogra_: oh great, thank you for that! I see the workaround!13:15
matttbearighi: I remember I had to change this sysctl when I wanted to open vscode or something big like that a few weeks ago. I can give it a try13:16
matttbeyes, it looks like the sysctl also helps in this case, thank you both for your help!13:21
