[00:19] disaster, the UK acquisition of our co-op supermarkets resulted in all the pretty functional self-serve checkouts having been replaced with disastrous new ones placed so closely together that you have to elbow the next person out the way [00:21] oh, they're owned by UK co-op? [00:22] so the rumours go yeah, they weren't before - ours were a totally independant chain where we get 4p back for every £1 we spend [00:22] share accounts, dividends and everything [00:23] UK Coop is fairly disfunctional [00:26] mmm good source of packaged foods etc though [00:28] hmm, here their stores are relatively small convenience stores, not full supermarkets, and generally expensive at that [00:28] got a mix here, couple of large ones and then small dotted about [00:30] they're head quartered here in Manchester, started close to here [00:30] ooh i had no idea [00:31] the C.I. bunch are very directionless, so perhaps it's a match made in heaven! [00:31] CI? [00:31] channel islands [00:31] ah [00:33] daftykins: Is most of the stuff from the UK? [00:33] yeah, lots of other brands as well of course - but the sandwich and wrap section is all the UK produce [00:35] the logistics for CI must be quite tricky; mind you, I guess it's probably not much different from bits of Scotland or Wales [00:35] shelves are very often bare in winter, yip [00:36] just the norm for us [00:39] I'm too used to being in walking range of lots of different supermarkets and shops [00:40] I'm about 5m north of Manchester, and within a mile or two there are all the supermarkets (other than Waitrose) [00:41] :) [00:41] Waitrose bought our two largest ones [00:41] one was a Safeway prior [00:44] nod [00:45] wow there are some snaps from back in the day when it was "Besants" Guernsey, pronounced Bess ants [00:45] daftykins: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockport_Pyramid used to be owned by the the Coop bank (that narrowly avoided going under a few times) [00:46] :D [01:02] that will be once I can go out again, hopefully test -ve in the next few days..... [01:04] oh nooo the plague got you... first time? [01:07] yep, tested +ve on Wednesday [01:07] how's it been? the dose i got just made me fatigued, slept a huge amount over a weekend then was back at it [01:08] I didn't sleep much on Monday/Tuesday night - but thoguht that could be due to being full of paint fumes [01:08] daftykins: I had a day or two of being 2 or 3c hot; not massive; nothing a couple of paracetamol haven't sorted [01:08] some catarragh, bit of a cough that's not quite sorted itself yet [01:09] not bad! [01:11] the fact it overlapped with me having some teeth out on Wednesday is kind of interesting; whether I've given it to the dentists will be interesting, but currently my best guess is I picked it up in the dentists the week before when I went to ask some stuff about it [01:13] ah could well be [01:13] i sometimes enjoy sitting in the reception of my nearest practice client here, but i do also ponder what i'm exposing myself to [21:36] hmm, the River Test [22:11] Greeting from sunny Punta Cana! [22:19] salutations from the suburbs of dublin
