[00:55] Any advice on which version of KUBUNTU to load into Apple MacBook A1181 (misd 2007)? [01:37] the latest? [04:01] will kubuntu 24 lts ship with wayland option? [05:08] we have shipped with the wayland option for years [05:09] valorie: we don't on the 3 year LTS [05:09] having it in the sddm menu, even as the non default suggests to people that it is fully supported [05:09] aha - not the option? [05:09] which it is not [05:10] got it [05:10] valorie: we put in the release notes how to install it [05:10] perfect; I will remember that [05:10] but stress it is not supported as x11 is [05:11] I'll possibly try it out on my travel lappy which is non-nvidia [05:11] with non LTS we risk having it there for asy testing [05:11] *easy [05:11] but so far no one has talked me into using it [05:11] not seeing the point yet [05:12] I think it will be a serious option for 24.10 [05:13] in fact plasma 6 tries to default to it IIRC [05:13] right [05:13] which is fine if it works [05:14] though I have a patch in sddm at the moment to ensure x11 is default [05:14] good [05:14] stability is the point [05:15] exactly why we do what I said with each LTS [05:15] got it [08:38] Hi, I use Kubuntu 22.04 since many months on a DELL Latitude E7470 laptop with e1000 ethernet card. This has always worked without problems until about one week ago. Now the OS no longer recognises the presence of the ethernet card. I can only connect via WiFi. I did not do any special software installation or modification to the OS. [08:38] The only way, a change to the OS could have come in, would be through the push of an automatic update from Kubuntu. [08:38] Is anybody else experiencing the same problem? [08:38] Has there been an update to the Kernel in the past weeks which might have affected ethernet card support? [09:07] DirkPetry: there are many ways to test it out, first to try an boot an older kernel, second to boot a live ISO and see if you get it working. [12:23] Hi all [16:57] Is there some documentation that explains how package versions are decided on between LTS releases? For example wine is 8.0.1 on Kubuntu 23.10, but I think it's around version 5 on LTS. [18:49] Hi guys, is anyone still using Plasma 5.24 with Ubuntu LTS? I'm having a bug with Discover.. [18:50] dchiodi008: not me, I'm using 5.18 [21:40] oh lol! (re @IrcsomeBot: dchiodi008: not me, I'm using 5.18) [21:45] Anyway, when I click the categories (Applications, Applications Addons, or Plasma Addons) Discover get froze and then crashes [21:49] dchiodi0087: not sure if this is helpful, you could try installing whatever app through Muon Package Manager [21:53] yeah is what I'm doing right now to deflect the problem
