[07:50] https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/noble-numbat-24-04-beta-release-status-tracking/44043 [10:19] wtf is with all those *t64 packages? will it be fixed before release? [10:20] i believe this is related to https://www.phoronix.com/news/Debian-Experimental-64bit-Time [10:20] The fix *is* the *t64 packages. [10:22] so some dead arch will have issues in 14 years and for that one needs to screw all the package names in ubuntu lts? is someone taking stupid pills? [10:23] please watch your language [10:24] https://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/64bit-time#Goal_description has more details [10:27] what would we do without m68k [10:31] The package name of a library is an implementation detail. Nearly nobody should need to refer to it directly. It should be a automatically generated dependency in nearly all cases. === guiverc2 is now known as guiverc [12:41] @lotuspsychje I use only ZFS on my hardware. at least for most of it :) [12:42] antst: i didnt test it on noble myself [12:43] I run, works smoothly [12:43] cool [12:43] although currently I run zfs from my own zfs-dkms package [12:44] with backported patch for copy_file_range [12:44] pushed branch to git for maintainers to pickup, if they want [12:45] lovely [12:45] and offered to packport all block clone fixes, if they agree to include them, to have block clonning workin in 2.2.2/noble [12:45] im usualy testing -desktop vanilla LTS devel releases early [12:45] I don't have desktops ) [12:46] stuff for everyone : ) [12:49] I already have 2 physical hosts running 24.04, and couple of lxd/incus containers, all stable [12:49] i saw some lxd issues appear in #ubuntu-release yesterday [12:49] now upgrading one more container [12:50] I am moving away from LXD to Incus [12:50] although, currently incus packages are broken in 24.04, dependencies [12:50] uh lxc sorry [12:50] yep, lxc now is absent, effectively [12:50] * antst this is why incus packages are broken ) === JanC is now known as Guest4162 === JanC_ is now known as JanC [19:09] hi [19:10] How do I install this? - https://packages.ubuntu.com/source/noble/gnome-network-displays - I've tried `sudo add-apt-repository universe && sudo apt update && sudo apt install gnome-network-displays` but it gives me E: Unable to locate package gnome-network-displays [19:22] Probably not at all right now, until the packages are rebuilt again [19:27] 8 hours you think? [19:32] well, it's been nearly a week now [19:34] SamuelMarks: that deb is published for noble. If your apt installation can't see it and you're running Noble, it's misconfigured. [19:35] Or maybe you're using a mirror that's behind? [19:35] Here's how I verified this: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/5Y7JQ5sZc4/ [19:45] weird. I'm definitely on 25.04 (with 6.8.4 kernel) [19:46] *24.04 [19:47] any idea how to fix this? "apt install ksmbd-tools -> dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/ksmbd-tools_3.5.1-1build2_amd64.deb (--unpack): unable to open '/usr/lib/systemd/system/ksmbd.service.dpkg-new': No such file or directory" [19:49] mh installing ksmbd-tools_3.5.1-1_amd64.deb worked fine [20:50] Good evening. Window resizing under X11 is partially functioning. For example, resizing works fine for regular windows to browse system & drive files and folders. However, windows for select programs such as Spotify or LibreOffice cannot be resized via draggin corners. They can only be resized by maximizing, minimizing, or dragging to a side of the screen. Checking with Wayland, this problem does [20:50] not exist. [20:51] I would be happy to file a bug report, but 'ubuntu-bug' doesn't have sufficient granularity...
