yanndHi! How can I know if a given kernel patch is being considered for inclusion in the next package release, and to suggest that it gets considered? (esp. given the imminent 22.04 release)08:39
arighiyannd, I think the best way is to check if the patch has been applied to the git repository: https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/noble (branch master-next)08:42
yanndalready did that (and it is not), but I noticed both master and master-next have slowed down much - and I'm not really familiar with the workflow here08:44
yanndmy concern is about the "xen-netfront: Add missing skb_mark_for_recycle" patch, included in v6.8.5 only, where the ubuntu tree is still at v6.8.4 for now - the issue (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2056706) does not really seem to be on the radars08:47
-ubottu:#ubuntu-kernel- Launchpad bug 2056706 in linux (Ubuntu) "System unstable, kernel ring buffer flooded with 'BUG: Bad page state in process swapper/0'" [Undecided, Confirmed]08:47
arighiyannd, if it's applied upstream to the stable branch it'll be applied to the Ubuntu kernel as well as part of the regular stable updates08:54
arighiyannd, master/master-next are slowing down recently because we are close to the 24.04 release date (see https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/introducing-kernel-6-8-for-the-24-04-noble-numbat-release)08:55
yanndThat's our understanding, it looks like v6.8.5 will not make it in noble before the release and that's why we're worried - users are going to upgrade or install new Xen VMs with 22.04 soon after the release, only to get hit by this issue.  Is there an ETA for v6.8.5?08:59
yanndalso looks like that bug could tagged kernel-fixed-upstream09:05
arighiyannd, I'll see what I can do, we may still have some time to include this before the release...11:52
arighialso, thanks for pointing this out11:52
yanndarighi: thx!14:41
