Ratman5005When 24.04 is released for GA on 4/25, is it better to wipe and reload with a fresh copy or is there no need as with normal updates you will be on the same version.16:24
lotuspsychje!final | Ratman5005 17:49
ubottuRatman5005: If you install a development version of Ubuntu Noble and keep up with package updates, then you will be upgraded to the official release of 24.04 when it comes out. To make sure, type « sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade » in a terminal.17:49
Ratman5005Thanks!17:53
lotuspsychjeRatman5005: keep in mind that the 'final' release of 24.04 this month will still contain some bugs, if you want the LTS route, better await 24.04.117:58
lotuspsychjelike for production purposes for example, fresh install 24.04.1 in july18:00

indyZHi guys. Checking out 24.04 beta. Seems nice, but I have a problem: Every time I use Gnome I want to slam my face into the keyboard. How do I see what applications are installed? There does not seem to be an Applications menu. (No grid of dots)22:28
tomreynindyZ: i'm surprised the 'activity' menu isn't there for you (but i have not tried 24.04 myself). try super + A23:36
indyZtomreyn: I am dumb. It's the "Ubuntu" logo that my mind saw as a recycle/trash bin23:47
indyZtomreyn: that works, too. Thank you23:47
tomreynhehe23:49
tomreynglad you got it sorted23:49
donofrioI'm running on my w11 workstation on wsl 2 for last 4 months....just did dist-upgrade so I have fresh new packages (why does it pull from " http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble/main amd64" if it is new?23:59
