davidicusThis is embarrasing to ask but I'm trying to learn music production on linux and gravitate away from Ableton on windows. It's been years since I've done linux but never did music on it at the time. I've managed to get my midi keyboard to play sound with qsynth but I want to learn Ardour. Seems the default is some "ACE fluid synth" which is not installed from the U-Studio installer and it's not in the repositories. There was also yoshimi but he GUI 01:24
davidicusis far to small for these old eyes. Can somone give me  a quick and dirty connection to get my keyboard to play in Ardour with a decent synth?  I might be able to figure out other stuff from there. It's one of my last hurdles.01:24
davidicusI have the latest version of Ubuntu-Studio if that makes a fifference.01:25
davidicusand my keyboard is an Alesis v49. USB. I also amy getting my sound outputs via USB on and M-audio controller Air19201:27
Eickmeyerdavidicus: We do not give remote support in that way, no. But #ardour is a channel here. /join #ardour01:30
davidicusOK thank you.01:31
Eickmeyer(By "quick and dirty connection" I was assuming you meant to remote-in to your computer)01:32
davidicusFYI. I got it running. It was my selection of inputs and outputs set at the audo/midi setup that pops up when starting a new session that was wrong. There were lots of choices. It had defaulted to my Air-192 m-audio thingy for both choices but my keyboard was plugged solo to the back of the computer. Anyway, I kept starting new sessions and trying different devices on the input until I kicked off the volume bars and then cycled through the choices 05:25
davidicusfor the output until I nailed the right output selection and got sound . I thank everyone massively for your help. It meant the world to me.  I can now got to bed and sleep with a smile.05:25
davidicusoops, wrong channel, lol05:26

andersson1234Eickmeyer: heads up, it seems mantic to noble ubuntu studio upgrades are failing with lots of dependency issues: https://platform-qa-jenkins.ps5.ubuntu.com/view/upgrade/job/upgrade_ubuntu-mantic-noble-ubuntustudio-amd64_qemu/38/14:01
Eickmeyerandersson1234: That's an #ubuntu-release conversation due to time_t transition causing those issues. Have you checked there? Furthermore, there's a whole discourse post about upgrade blockers.14:53
Eickmeyerandersson1234: (also, this is a support chat, not a development chat)14:53
