[00:13] <superkuh> For a long time I've been bothered by MATE's defaults for Caja which stop updating directory listings in real time when the folder has more than 1000 items. I just recently discovered the limit in original gnome 2. 3000 items. I still have not found any "1000" reference in the MATE source which defines it. I'm starting to think it's some gtk3 thing.
