[17:23] @Mooncairn, fix your system. Keeps dis/connecting. [17:24] Sorry about that. I was trying to update some settings on my IRC client that required reconnecting to the server. [17:24] I have this channel and others on auto-connect as well. [17:25] I noticed :P [17:26] Not sure how to get around that. [17:26] What client are you using? [17:26] HexChat [17:27] If I turn auto-connect off on channels, the channels just disappear from my list and I have to remember which ones to manually re-join. [17:27] There should be an easy way in the client to modify settings and save them then. I use Weechat which can be very complicated and I don't even know a tenth of what it does. [17:28] HexChat's a bit special in that regard. [17:28] I can't even change color themes without restarting the client. [17:29] I've been meaning to migrate to something else like Weechat, but I never get around to it. [17:30] There are a few other IRC clients that are good too. HexChat is pretty old though and old software can have a way of clinging to an outdated UX. [17:30] Yup. [17:30] Though, the same can be said about the IRC protocol itself I guess. [17:31] It uses GTK 2.0, which doesn't respond to system-wide color changes. [17:31] Oh I HATE that [17:32] It's been officially retired recently. [17:32] Half a dozen people will probably fork it and none of them will get anywhere. :p [17:33] https://gitlab.com/Scary-Guy/theme_compliance HATE that [17:38] I sometimes switch between light and dark mode. Prefer light mode usually, but under certain lighting conditions dark mode works better. [17:40] A lot depends on the time of day for most people too. When driving in the day, day mode is almost a necessity, otherwise the brightness needs to be way up. [17:44] The really annoying thing (beside HexChat) about switching themes is switching configs on CLI tools (e.g., dircolors, bat, gitconfig, etc.). [17:45] Right now I've got symlinks set up to point at different files, and I manually update the links. [17:46] Been meaning to automate it, but haven't gotten around to that, either. [17:58] I wish there was a way to automate automating things. I'll be happy when AI gets there [18:00] heh [18:23] The true story of how Skynet took over the world: "Do as we say, or we'll make you do everything for yourself again."
