sem | Hello all -- I am going to attempt to upgrade lubuntu 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS, further updates as they occur :) | 12:21 |

sem | I am sort of stuck on step 1: backup your system. I'm considering a fresh install of 22.04 so I can move from ext4 to btrfs, and do backups that way. Can the 22.04 installer copy documents and appications from 20.04? (Assuming I manage to backup the system from a live-cd prior) ? | 14:18 |
wxl | sem: the installer is part of an entire live (meaning running off of RAM) Lubuntu environment, so you can do whatever you want with it. You certainly can mount drives and copy files. Applications don't exactly "copy" unless we're talking about AppImages. A better solution would be to get a list of all packages (e.g. `dpkg -l`) and then after the installation is done, boot into the new system and make sure | 21:34 |
wxl | they're all installed. | 21:34 |
wxl | sem: you probably have snaps, too, so `snap list`. | 21:35 |
