cpaelzerok, the openstack packages now see the stubs after we fixed the subscription last week14:32
cpaelzernothing else new there14:32
cpaelzer#topic New MIRs14:32
cpaelzerMission: ensure to assign all incoming reviews for fast processing14:32

cpaelzeruh, 4 of them14:32
cpaelzerok, the two easy cases first14:33

cpaelzernormal cases, Desktop filing them14:34
cpaelzerstill plenty of time14:34
cpaelzerslyon:  and joalif: one each?14:34
slyonsure, I can take one!14:34
joalifok for me with any,  but not sure if I'll have it ready by next week, i'll be at the sprint14:34
cpaelzerok, as soon as it can get done14:35
cpaelzerassigned them14:35
cpaelzernow to the less obvious ones14:35
cpaelzerhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linuxptp/+bug/207171714:35
-ubottu:#ubuntu-meeting- Launchpad bug 2071717 in linuxptp (Ubuntu) "[MIR] linuxptp" [Undecided, New]14:35
cpaelzerthis is tricky because of this14:35
cpaelzer- The owning team should be the Server team14:35
cpaelzer- The future owning team is not yet subscribed, but will subscribe to the package before promot14:35
sarnoldgood morning14:36
cpaelzerI guess myself as director of the server team should have heard about that at any time in the past14:36
cpaelzerbut I have not14:36
cpaelzerso I think I need to grab that one and work with them that this is not "volunteer others at no proce or coordination"14:36
cpaelzeralso ptp, over ntp fine - but ntp is universe and chrony is in14:37
cpaelzerarr, so many things to sort out14:37
sarnold"albeit the maintenance of linuxptp itself would likely be done by the Industrial team"14:37
cpaelzerfine14:37
sarnoldit might not be on the server team?14:37
cpaelzerstill you do not sign up others for commitment without asking do you? :-)14:38
sarnold - The owning team should be the Server team14:38
cpaelzerlet us get to the next14:38
cpaelzerhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lenovo-wwan-unlock/+bug/205819214:38
sarnoldoh lol yeah that's a bit much :)14:38
-ubottu:#ubuntu-meeting- Launchpad bug 2058192 in OEM Priority Project "[MIR] lenovo-wwan-unlock" [Undecided, Confirmed]14:38
cpaelzersimilar interesting entry14:38
cpaelzer - The owning team will be canonical-mainstream and I have their acknowledgement for14:38
cpaelzeroh, that is the new name for all the OEM packages and such14:39
slyonthis has been in the sponsorship queue for a while (patch pilot) and seems to be at a stage where it's ready for MIR now14:39
cpaelzerok, then that is less surprising14:39
cpaelzerlooking for a reviewer14:39
slyonalso, canonical-mainstream is a thing and has several packages under maintenance already14:39
cpaelzeryep, sen that - was just not used to that name14:39
cpaelzer+e14:39
slyonack14:39
cpaelzeranyone up for grabbing that?14:39
slyonwe said one per reviewer per week, so maybe didrocks?14:40
sarnoldheh, zero entries in the directory for "mainstream"14:40
cpaelzerok, let us ask didrocks to do so - he said he reads logs14:40
cpaelzerit still isn't easy - all the oem-* packages are special cases and no "normal" packages14:41
cpaelzerthe only other under their control so far is v4l2-relayd14:41
cpaelzerwhich my scripts can't find a MIR bug for14:41
cpaelzerso history will be interesting14:42
sarnoldhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/195810914:42
-ubottu:#ubuntu-meeting- Launchpad bug 1958109 in OEM Priority Project "[MIR] v4l2-relayd" [High, In Progress]14:42
ahresseAbout linuxptp, we (Partner Engineering) ended up going with Industrial team mostly because they were already working around ptp. I guess if you think Server team should be responsible in the long term, let's discuss it on MM PTP channel?14:42
slyonI remember being involved in that v4l2-relayd MIR14:42
slyoncan't recall the details, though14:42
cpaelzerok, it might help to show if it was discussed there if that team has established as owning team for packages14:43
cpaelzerI've reached out to didrocks directly as well14:43
sarnoldahresse: was that perhaps a copy-paste from a server-team MIR and not completely scrubbed?14:43
cpaelzergoing on here ...14:43
cpaelzer#topic Incomplete bugs / questions14:44
cpaelzerMission: Identify required actions and spread the load among the teams14:44
cpaelzer#link https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/?field.searchtext=&orderby=-date_last_updated&field.status%3Alist=INCOMPLETE_WITH_RESPONSE&field.status%3Alist=INCOMPLETE_WITHOUT_RESPONSE&field.subscriber=ubuntu-mir14:44
ahresse@snarnold, the initial MIR was started by me but we don't have enough bandwith in our team to actually maintain linuxptp. So we eneded up giving the responsibility to Industrial team. Indus team reviewed this MIR and should be the main POC for next steps.14:45
slyonI remember waveform told he continued working on the nbd MIR, but the bug does not seem to be updated, yet. So he might not be fully ready14:45
cpaelzeryep slyon14:46
cpaelzerbut he'll see the highlight and can fix that until next week14:46
waveformcorrect, not ready yet I'm afraid, but it is in progress14:46
cpaelzerahresse: thanks for the answer, I think I need to talk to the industrial team to get this sorted then14:46
cpaelzerthe only new in there is14:46
cpaelzerhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/highway/+bug/207080714:46
-ubottu:#ubuntu-meeting- Launchpad bug 2070807 in highway (Ubuntu) "[MIR] highway" [Undecided, Incomplete]14:46
cpaelzerwhich is soon coming, but not ready yet14:47
cpaelzerall ok no action needed AFAICS14:47
cpaelzerand related to the libxl we had above14:47
cpaelzer#topic Process/Documentation improvements14:47
cpaelzerMission: Review pending process/documentation pull-requests or issues14:47
slyonyes, still in stub stage.14:47
cpaelzer#link https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-mir/pulls14:47
cpaelzer#link https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-mir/issues14:47
cpaelzertwo old cases that are stalled14:47
cpaelzerok with that14:47
sarnoldahresse: btw most irc clients will complete nicknames with a tab :) eg sar<tab> --> sarnold14:48
cpaelzerthe one we might be able to do something about is https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-mir/issues/5514:48
-ubottu:#ubuntu-meeting- Issue 55 in canonical/ubuntu-mir "end-of-cycle unexpected changes" [Open]14:48
dviererbeJust out of interest what needs to be done to unstall https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-mir/pull/1714:48
-ubottu:#ubuntu-meeting- Pull 17 in canonical/ubuntu-mir "add re-reviews to the MIR process" [Open]14:48
cpaelzerdviererbe: managers saying they have the capacity to even do 1% of it without a heart attack14:49
dviererbemakes sense14:49
cpaelzeron 55, as I said in the past14:49
cpaelzerthe ownership of this concrete case is sorted out between CPC and us14:50
cpaelzerhelping to reduce the nimbus state this was caused by14:50
cpaelzerwhat is left open is what we should do about that in general14:50
slyonwrt #55 I was wondering if we should have some mechanism to "flag" certain packages? e.g. using a tag on LP, that is regularly reviewed by the MIR team and responsilble teams are poked about outdated packages?14:50
cpaelzerlike more documentation, communication, rules on "how early things should be214:50
slyonI was stumbling upon tftp-hpa today, which seemed pretty unmaintainer and would be worth flagging (and poking the server team about ;-) )14:50
cpaelzeroutch :-)14:51
cpaelzerTBH, just do a comment on a bug or create one - the owning team's process (whatever it is in detail) should pick that up14:51
cpaelzerIf we try to standardize on a tag we just need to convince everybody to care about the tag14:51
cpaelzerif a team owns a package they are expected to watch bugs14:52
cpaelzerso just creating/updating one should do it14:52
slyontrue14:52
sarnoldbut this requires someone to notice the package might be stale14:52
cpaelzerAnd with saying something like that we should also close out #55 for now IMHO14:52
cpaelzersarnold: true, but unless someone has a magic proposal how to do that ...14:52
sarnoldworthwhile we can :) but I think we should still be thikning about what part of our process could better spot packages that are losing favor14:52
cpaelzerwe can leave it open if you like, but I've not seen/hear anyone with capacity or a simple solution to do it14:53
sarnold(I swear I'm a native english speaker, sheesh)14:53
cpaelzerhehe14:53
cpaelzerok then, let us keep it open - but maybe state clearly that it is stuck for capacity and that a desire would be such a process as outlined by sarnold14:53
sarnoldwfm, thanks14:54
cpaelzer#topic MIR related Security Review Queue14:54
cpaelzerMission: Check on progress, do deadlines seem doable?14:54
cpaelzerSome clients can only work with one, some with the other escaping - the URLs point to the same place.14:54

cpaelzerInternal link14:54
cpaelzer- ensure your teams items are prioritized among each other as you'd expect14:54
cpaelzer- ensure community requests do not get stomped by teams calling for favors too much14:54
cpaelzer#link https://warthogs.atlassian.net/jira/software/c/projects/SEC/boards/59414:54
cpaelzersarnold: you said you lost some reviewing power - how are things going?14:54
sarnoldcpaelzer: not real well, I haven't had a chance to talk to our director about our resourcing in the last week14:54
sarnoldcpaelzer: no progress on any individual review, and no progress on the larger problem14:55
cpaelzerhe's back this week, have fun once time permits14:55
sarnoldexactly, 1:1 in a few hours :)14:55
cpaelzerok, waiting for that outcome then14:55

dviererbeLast week you discussed how the MIR could fit into the UPG14:55
slyonsarnold: just an update from last weeks meeting regarding high level docs. dviererbe shared this: https://canonical-ubuntu-packaging-guide.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/latest/explanation/main-inclusion-review/14:56
