What's confusing me is that the curtin log shows "adding partition to ... disk-nvme0n2" but then the command it runs next is for nvme0n1 https://bpa.st/PJLA [13:55] full subiquity-partitioning.conf here: https://bpa.st/LP6Q and curtin-install.log https://bpa.st/LROA [13:55] [15:03] ugh, I moved my NVMe drive to another controller, and made the corresponding edits in the storage config, and now it's working. I think subiquity/curtin was unhappy that the serial number for the disk appeared to be the same for both ( VMware Virtual NVMe Disk_VMware NVME_0000 ). I'm not sure I can control that. [15:05] !crosspost | Teridon [15:05] Teridon: Please don't ask the same question in multiple Ubuntu channels at the same time. Many helpers are in more than one channel and it's not fair to them or the other people seeking support. [15:05] ok [15:22] So I'll modify my question a bit now: Can I tell subiquity to ignore the disk serial? I'm guessing it's using that because it should be unique but.. VMware is dumb here [15:23] one should mention vmware at the start. [15:30] serial is an optional value, if it's not suiting your needs try removing it [15:30] Teridon: ^ [15:32] dbungert: ty but I'm not putting serial in my autoinstall config -- but subquity appears to be adding it automatically [15:34] original autoinstall storage snippet: https://bpa.st/6FKQ [16:42] there's so little documentation on NTFS and Compression under linux, this is annoying me [19:56] i know it's not yet fully open but has anyone had any major issues with 22.04 -> 24.04 server upgrades? [19:56] only asking 'cause i've heard the Desktop side has some nasty but not so much with server side [20:05] and by 'fully open' i mean the upgrade path in d-r-u
