(re @saintgeorgepray4me: ) [15:53] Hi i have a stange audio issue so i just bought new head [15:53] Hi i have a stange audio issue so i just bought new usb headphones and only the left its heard [18:00] Yes,I installed the minimal ,is it bcoz of that? (re @plutorocks: but you installed minimal from installer?) [18:01] yes (re @saintgeorgepray4me: Yes,I installed the minimal ,is it bcoz of that?) [18:05] Kubuntu is just Ubuntu with KDE [20:45] Hello everyone! [20:45] If there is anyone from the Kubuntu dev team here, I was wondering if there were any plans on creating an immutable Kubuntu distribution based on Ubuntu Core? [20:45] I've been reading a lot about these types of distros and they seem to provide a lot of great advantages over classic package based distributions. [20:46] Stephane: have you checked ##kubuntu-devel or ##kubuntu-council channels yet? [20:47] well [20:47] Stephane: have you checked #kubuntu-devel or #kubuntu-council channels yet? [20:47] No I haven't. I'll check them right away. [21:51] can someone please help me fix my login screen [21:51] I added another gpu to my server and now the login screen is always in a super low resolution my monitor cant even see [21:53] let me try one more restart [22:01] nerp [22:03] yarp [22:04] i can not fix this login screen :( [22:05] tried xrandr and shut off the unused vga output [22:05] tried copying settings to sddm [22:08] any idea sarnold? [22:09] Mibix: not really :( xrandr always felt like a thing to done once you're logged in, and beforel ogging in you'd need to use xorg.conf snippets to tell the monitors what to do, but I've never put effort into this, I just put up with garbage-looking screens before logging in [22:10] heh i cant even see the login screen is the issue [22:10] oh, even the login screen itself is busted? ouch. [22:10] once i login everything is fine [22:11] but the login screen is displaying at too low of a resolution for my monitor [22:14] Mibix: so, if it were my problem to solve, I'd try the Xorg -configure option to generate a configuration for the system https://www.x.org/releases/current/doc/man/man1/Xorg.1.xhtml -- save aside just the monitor section https://www.x.org/releases/current/doc/man/man5/xorg.conf.5.xhtml#heading12 in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ [22:14] Mibix: .. and then edit that monitor section to select the mode you want [22:17] that doesnt even work https://imgur.com/a/RScyPS4 [22:18] there is nothing in that folder either [22:18] you can't run it from a terminal while running x [22:18] drop to the console and run it there [22:19] you might even have to exit the x entirely, it's been ages since i've used it [22:19] not sure how to do that lol [22:19] control alt f3 or something like that probably does the trick [22:21] still same error, X already running [22:22] Mibix: pardon my meddling, have you checked in the System Settings > Login Screen (SDDM) section yet? maybe either changing a theme or just doing a Sync? [22:22] assuming that's the screen you're referring to [22:23] i did try that already [22:24] Mibix: what do you mean by the login screen btw, the part where you enter user/password and session type? [22:24] correct [22:25] Mibix: by new gpu, you mean, a new videocard to a pci-E slot? [22:26] yes [22:26] i have a nvidia 710 and now a nvidia 1050 ti [22:26] monitor is attached to 710 [22:27] Mibix: so you have two videocards hmmm and SDDM I assume is using the 1050ti [22:29] no i dont think it works on either gpu [23:00] wb Mibix, sorry was kinda busy doing stuff [23:00] Mibix: all I can think of, is the SDDM configuration at /etc/sddm [23:01] Mibix: do you get the same thing in a liveUSB session? [23:01] hmm havent tried that [23:08] Mibix: you can also give a shot to reinstalling SDDM itself, that way the script reruns and reprobes hardware [23:11] Mibix: it may be worth a shot looking at your scripts under /usr/share/sddm/scripts [23:20] the files in the etc/sddm folder don't seem to have any video settings [23:20] not sure what to look for in these scripts [23:21] trying to convert my old VM and passthrough this new GPU to see if all this is even worth it haha [23:22] oh you never mentioned VM [23:22] hahahaha [23:42] no this kubuntu install is not a VM [23:42] im hosting a windows vm on it [23:43] doesnt really have anything to do with my issue, heh [23:43] besides me adding another GPU :D [23:43] Mibix: maybe reinstalling sddm? [23:44] sounds dangerous haha
