[04:08] Getting ready to test Kubuntu 24.04.1. [04:09] well, ok, more like "got ready" - I have the ISO flashed and booted on one of my test systems [05:51] I got six of the mandatory tests done. Am too tired to keep going, so I'll leave the rest for others or for myself tomorrow. === guiverc2 is now known as guiverc [09:15] morning ☕️ [09:29] Morning ☕️ [09:36] arraybolt3: thanks! [09:42] So to 'push the button' we remove block-proposed tag or remove each package from the bug in a somewhat sane order? [09:44] Is there a sane order? I think we drop the tag and see what migrates. We may need to get a britney hint added for some of it. Looks like the auto hinter is not working. [09:45] Lol I don't know. Never done this before. Sounds good. [09:46] Educate me on Britney hint [09:50] Britney tries to migrate individual sources and its binaries, and bails if migrating that source breaks other things. The autohinter then tries to migrate groups of things so that the breakage doesn't occur. e.g. here in plasma where migrating some things but not others would break plasma 5 in release. [09:51] The autohinter seems to be out of action, so we might need to get a hint set for britney manually [09:52] for example for the gnome 47 transition https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-release/britney/+git/hints-ubuntu/commit/?id=43ceadec57deae9dd3ece17fce28f00770572376 [09:52] -ubottu:#kubuntu-devel- Commit 43ceade in ~ubuntu-release/britney/+git/hints-ubuntu "hint in gnome-shell 47 transition" [09:52] OK, best way to learn is feet in the fire lol, ready for a fun day! [09:53] I've not done this with plasma either. Have with Qt and minor transitions, but..... 🫣 [09:54] Weeee! [09:55] logs of britney runs: https://ubuntu-archive-team.ubuntu.com/proposed-migration/log/oracular/2024-08-28/ [09:56] > Processing hints from the auto hinter [09:56] >> Skipping auto hinting due to recursion problem [09:57] so yeah, still borked. manual hint if needed then [10:02] 3.... 2.... 1.... [10:03] gulp [10:03] lol [10:05] not the best time with 24.04.1 being readied for tomorrow, but I might have limited internet over the weekend, so jump it is [10:06] I will be at my brother-in-laws funeral this weekend, so now is good. [10:06] right. hopefully we will get the 1st indication in an hr or so [10:13] got my full attention next two days, hopefully we can get this done :) [10:43] https://irc-attachments.kde.org/290cb7e4/6_1_4_oracular_proposed_migration.pdf [10:43] after 1st run ^^^ [10:44] wow, looking green [10:44] light green is not migrated, so maybe still some work to do [10:44] will let another run go through I think [10:44] k, standing by! [10:45] workin on more apps in staging in the meantime [10:46] https://irc-attachments.kde.org/5838a54e/giphy.mp4 [11:04] going to let britney do a few more runs. looks like it will take a while before whet did migrate registers with britney as published in release pocket [11:04] ok [11:04] nothing in Ubuntu happens quickly 🙄😂 [11:05] :( [12:42] trying to get hint added [12:43] transition to get kicking in [12:43] REMOVING: [12:43] plasma-discover-backend-snap [12:44] the snap now inside the plasma-discover ? [12:45] Hi all [12:45] disabled for now until snapd-glib is ready (re @myfenris: the snap now inside the plasma-discover ?) [12:45] snapd-glib is stuck so snaps disabled till they respond to bug [12:46] owh .. so safe to remove it ? [12:46] doing full-upgrade [12:46] Yes [12:46] hint added: https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-release/britney/+git/hints-ubuntu/commit/?id=d792f18cba1e5befafe316541edf36dd3d2bd88e [12:46] -ubottu:#kubuntu-devel- Commit d792f18 in ~ubuntu-release/britney/+git/hints-ubuntu "hint for plasma 6 transition HEAD devel" [13:27] I think that hint worked! [13:29] well that was less painful than I feared \o/ [13:29] Yay :) [13:31] Now we just have to fix all the non plasma things to go with it [13:37] how / what do I have to do to achieve? [13:37] what is Cannot handle removal: in that log [13:45] NBS binaries I think: https://ubuntu-archive-team.ubuntu.com/nbs.html (re @sgmoore: what is Cannot handle removal: in that log) [13:47] Get as much parity with what worked with plasma 5 as we can I think. e.g. kio extras, kdeconnect showing in systray etc (re @sgmoore: how / what do I have to do to achieve?) [13:48] I am running kdeconnect and it shows in systray :) [13:48] plus try to minimise the amount of Qt5/kF5 on the ISO, so it isn't to bloated with lots of both 5 and 6 [13:48] Ok [13:49] sddm greeter and other theming will need updates also I think (re @sgmoore: how / what do I have to do to achieve?) [13:51] we should make a list obviously [13:52] plus I am sure testers will report other things that plasma 6 affects [13:52] Wondering if we want to use plasma 6 wallpaper or the noble theme? [13:54] i do ... but with this errors (re @sgmoore: I am running kdeconnect and it shows in systray :)) [13:54] file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.kdeconnect/contents/ui/main.qml:45:25: Type FullRepresentation unavailable [13:54] file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.kdeconnect/contents/ui/FullRepresentation.qml:47:23: Type DeviceDelegate unavailable [13:54] file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.kdeconnect/contents/ui/DeviceDelegate.qml:288:17: Type KDEConnect.RemoteKeyboard unavailable [13:54] qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/kdeconnect/RemoteKeyboard.qml:85:5: KeyEvent is not a type [13:55] inside the kdeconnect in the systray [13:56] does it work? [13:57] i havent connect it with the phone yet 🙈 [13:57] Mine is connected [13:57] Appears it is a Wayland bug [13:58] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429173 [13:58] -ubottu:#kubuntu-devel- KDE bug 429173 in kdeconnect "[Wayland] Keyboard input is not available from Android to Plasma" [Normal, Resolved: Fixed] [13:58] I like the plasma 6 wallpaper, and it does shout "here be plasma 6!" (re @sgmoore: Wondering if we want to use plasma 6 wallpaper or the noble theme?) [13:58] I agree (re @RikMills: I like the plasma 6 wallpaper, and it does shout "here be plasma 6!") [13:58] or switch to one of our alternates [13:59] me too (re @sgmoore: I agree) [14:02] @sgmoore fyi, lubuntu hit one of those Qt6 path issues on arm64 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-qtplugin/ [14:02] so not just us! [14:02] https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-qtplugin/2.0.0-0ubuntu1/+build/28872592 [14:03] ah ha [14:03] so there really is something odd going on with arm64 [14:48] kdsoap uploaded [14:53] yeah something is up with kdeconnect. phone side works perfectly. desktop not so much [14:59] I think we need to review qml module deps. I can see from those errors that at least one from kirigami addons is wanted but not a dep (re @sgmoore: yeah something is up with kdeconnect. phone side works perfectly. desktop not so much) [15:00] I think we need to review qml module deps. I can see from those errors that at least one from kirigami addons is wanted but not a dep in debian/control (re @sgmoore: yeah something is up with kdeconnect. phone side works perfectly. desktop not so much) [15:00] Ok [16:01] @RikMills how long do NEW packages typically take? I know they can take forever in debian :/ [16:02] Binaries or source? (re @sgmoore: @RikMills how long do NEW packages typically take? I know they can take forever in debian :/) [16:02] binaries [16:03] not very long usually, unless there is an issue [16:04] a few mins to a few days, depending on who is about [16:04] ok [16:04] 7 days so far for libkdcraw [16:04] kdsoap will have new binaries [16:05] kdsoap-ws-discovery-client will be a new source [16:05] That is showing as a new source: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oracular/+queue?queue_state=0&queue_text= (re @sgmoore: 7 days so far for libkdcraw) [16:06] ahhh yes right, it was named libkdcraw-kf5 [16:06] ok [17:00] 6.1.8 will land in staging or experimental ? [18:15] No [18:25] btw am probably going to work more on Noble.1 tests today [18:34] Thanks [18:35] New one building. Me and qml don't seem to get along and neon has diverged so far from us to be of any help. (re @myfenris: Package kdeconnect is not available, but is referred to by another package.
