ZachB | Does anyone know why my computer is entirely freezing when I try to transfer large files from a 4TB NTFS hard drive? I first noticed the issue when playing a heavily modded Skyrim from the hard drive, and it became apparent that it was a system-wide issue when I tried moving the mods off of the hard drive and the system began entirely freezing | 17:13 |
ZachB | again. I saw that there were issues in 24.04 with mounting NTFS hard drives, but I haven't seen any issues specific to moving files on them. | 17:13 |

pedahzur | ZachB: Can you move large files from a non-NTFS drive? It could be a driver issue. It could also be a hardware issue. Does the drive work fine in another system? Or in a Windows system? | 17:31 |
ZachB | I used the drive with Windows without issue for a while, but I haven't tested it in Windows since the issue started. I have another drive I recently bought for backups that's set to EXT4, so I can try move large files to/from it and see if there are issues with that. I was also thinking of trying to live boot another linux distor or an older | 17:50 |
ZachB | version of Kubuntu to see if the issues persist there. | 17:50 |
