[11:33] (asking same question in #ubuntu ) [11:44] Hi all [17:10] hola, probando el canal de irc [17:14] Hi RikMills, I am Guruprasad from the Launchpad team. Do you know what thing in Kubuntu is periodically querying https://git.launchpad.net/plasma-distro-release-notifier/plain/eol.json?h=eol? [17:15] I ask because we see a significant spike in the number of these requests recently and that is potentially causing issues on Launchpad git hosting. [17:16] guruprasad: I think that would https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-distro-release-notifier [17:17] guruprasad: I didn't have much to do with recent changes in that. Eickmeyer from ubuntu-studio lead those as they also use plasma [17:18] Oh okay. [17:18] This is useful information. [17:18] I will wait for Eickmeyer to respond. [17:19] Yeah, on the changlelog, don't think I ever touched it [17:19] https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-distro-release-notifier/+changelog [17:21] I pinged you only because I knew you were a Kubuntu developer and I didn't know anyone else to ping. [17:22] src/distroreleasenotifier.cpp: auto request = QNetworkRequest(QUrl(QStringLiteral("https://git.launchpad.net/plasma-distro-release-notifier/plain/eol.json?h=eol"))); [17:22] so yes, that request is in it's code [17:22] Thanks! [17:23] guruprasad: no problem. if I can't help directly, I will likely lnow who can :) [17:23] so pinging me is fine [17:23] I am not sure if there is a specific reason for a significant spike in these requests recently, but we might need some help to prevent that from happening again. [17:26] something sounds very familiar about this, so maybe a LP team member has raised it before [17:27] Should I submit a bug against plasma-distro-release-notifier? [17:29] guruprasad: aha, see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-distro-release-notifier/+bug/2039492 [17:29] -ubottu:#kubuntu- Launchpad bug 2039492 in plasma-distro-release-notifier (Ubuntu Noble) "[SRU] plasma-distro-release-notifier gets EOL data from git.launchpad.net" [High, In Progress] [17:29] which I just found [17:30] not sure why that stalled [17:31] I must have seen that bug at some point, which is why it rang a bell [17:41] Thanks again. I have left a comment about the current issue there. === vasilis is now known as vasilis_ === vasilis_ is now known as vasilis [18:42] Guruprasad: hi! I was working with Simon to get that sorted by using distro-info-data instead, but that stalled. [18:43] Eickmeyer, I reached out because these periodic requests are causing a significant load on the Launchpad git hosting infrastructure, thereby making it slow for all other users and some times even causing 503s [18:45] While we could block these requests to mitigate the issue, we do know what impact that will cause for Kubuntu and Ubuntu Studio users [18:46] So if there is anything that can be done towards fixing this bug, that will be very helpful. [18:46] Guruprasad: It would block the upgrade prompt, possibly cause the process to stall. I'm trying to get ahold of Simon asap. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-distro-release-notifier/+bug/2039492/comments/10 [18:46] -ubottu:#kubuntu- Launchpad bug 2039492 in plasma-distro-release-notifier (Ubuntu Oracular) "[SRU] plasma-distro-release-notifier gets EOL data from git.launchpad.net" [Critical, In Progress] [18:47] Although it might cause the process to just quit, which should be expected as if it were offline. [18:47] Either way, bumped priority to "critical". [18:49] guruprasad: I just pinged Simon via usual routes, so hopefully we'll get this resolved soon. [18:49] Eickmeyer, thanks! [19:40] Hello, I have a problem when my Dell 5490 Kubuntu 24.04 laptop automatically goes into sleep mode. The light stays on and it doesn't come out of sleep mode. I would like to point out that putting it into sleep mode by closing the lid works very well. Do you have any idea? [20:50] Hello, can you help me? On kubuntu, numbers and dates showing in arabic, how can i fix it? [20:52] https://imgur.com/a/EIxujec [21:13] user|40: I would suggest right-clight on the time and date on the bar, choose from the context menu: Set Time Format ... and then change Region to something with a language you prefer, then save [21:17] when i change time font this happens https://i.imgur.com/a9pvhao.png [21:18] and nothing changes [21:20] Error check-language-support, output: === alucardromero7 is now known as alucardromero
