=== aleks is now known as Guest2473 [17:13] Hey ive setup xubuntu 24 just about a week ago. [17:13] today i run in an odd error with "authenticator" for 2fa "gnome-authenticator [17:13] TOTP authentication app for the GNOME Desktop" [17:13] I installed it through synaptic, apparently the version there is 3.32.2 . [17:13] While trying to resolve the issue (accounts did no longer show on the gui) i joined the app chat support channel and wrote to the devs ... "dev Bilal Elmoussaoui" noted 3.32.2 is "that is approximately 5 years oldunsupported, debian is keeping it around instead of removing ityou should create a backup and install the flatpak package from flathub really" also "Bilal Elmoussaouithe old version was written in a [17:13] g gtk3, the new version is using Rust, much better codebase & a ton of new fixes and features and uses gtk4it is a completely different app by now [17:17] i restored the accounts on the app after figuring that the .db file for SQL3 in ~/.config/Authenticator/database-7.db hold the keys by checking the table with sqlite [17:17] The tables are encrypted so getting the tables wasnt enough apparently. [17:17] I added another test key to the empty GUI and it was added to that database file too. after restarting the app the other entries showed again! But this only lasted till the next reboot [17:42] wrapped it up again in a better readable pastebin https://pastebin.com/n5FVc6aX [18:11] shared this on the ubuntu 24 irc too .. hope this will be resolved because the app is aesome but running into problems not being able to access stored tokens is a big problem [19:37] back, had to reboot [19:46] Algum brazuca ai [19:49] Updated the gnome-authenticator with flatpak as recommended by the project maintainer dev. the depreciated 3.X should possibly removed from the repositories and / or updated as it potentially does more harm than good. Users who run in the situation i experienced may find themselves with lost account access on important services and the issues that come along. [19:50] hello [22:58] gi [22:58] hi [22:59] wassup [23:14] im learning linux commands thanks
