mojtabaHello everybody, I am using ubuntu 22.04 LTS, and when I run apt update, I am getting the GPG error: https://repositories.intel.com/gpu/ubuntu jammy InRelease: NO_PUBKEY 28DA432DAAC8BEA02:26
mojtabaDoes anybody know how to fix this?02:27
enigma9o7That doesn't look to me like an ubuntu official repo, likely you can just remove/disable it from software sources unless you need it for something.02:28
mojtabaMy CPU is 14900K intel.02:28
mojtabaI am not sure how it get added.02:28
mojtabaI do not see that link under Other Softwares in Software & Updates tab.02:30
enigma9o7If it were me, I'd look at the timestamp of the file in /etc/apt/sources.list.d then review my video survellience for that time.02:30
mojtabacat /etc/apt/sources.list | grep intel shows nothing!02:32
enigma9o7cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*02:34
enigma9o7It will likely be in its own file, not in your primary source file.02:34
tomreynmojtaba: on a side note, are you aware of this? https://forum.level1techs.com/t/intels-got-a-problem-13900k-ks-kf-14900k-ks-kf-crashing/21300802:35
mojtabaenigma9o7: There are three files for the intel, can I rename them so the file ends with .list.original?02:38
mojtabatomreyn: Thanks, I am looking in to it.02:38
enigma9o7Yes, will require root permission to do so tho.02:39
mojtabaenigma9o7: Thanks02:41

Guest82ravage quick when there is one or two windows, if not it require too much time11:18
ravageso use the keyboard11:19
Guest82ravage :-( why isn't there this function?11:19
mgedminGNOME's desktop is empty and thus there's little point in looking at it11:22
mgedminUbuntu adds a desktop icons extension by default, so the Ubuntu experience differs from GNOME11:22
mgedminmaybe Ubuntu should add a show desktop button to the dock or something11:23
mgedminalso, you could mouse-wheel to an empty workspace (there's always one) and look at the desktop there11:23
mgedmin(mouse wheel works over the activities button on the top-left, or if you hold down Ctrl+Alt while you mouse-wheel)11:24
Guest82mgedmin ok, but often it seems that it use a second desktop different from the first, as a new workspace with new series of windows that you open when u are on the second desktop that are different from those one opened from the first desktop, anyway when i use mouse wheel on empty space of the dock at the bottom it appear two dots maybe it means11:35
Guest82that ubuntu is passing to the second desktop, while if i use the mouse wheel on the activities button, the two dots doesn't appears, maybe in this case ubuntu remains on the first desktop as the main workspace11:35

isenedebug help; I have a ruby script running another (python) script in backticks (to capture the output of that other script. ioriaisene, can you replace backticks with $(/usr/bin/python  script) ?12:34
steinhey12:35
mgedminisene: the environment of a cron script is usually different (e.g. locale might not be set)12:37
mgedminisene: you could use a tool like py-spy dump (https://pypi.org/project/py-spy/) to look at where the python script is stuck12:38
iseneioria: Not in Ruby - but replacing the backticks with %x|ouath2.py...| changed nothing12:40
ioriai suggested to use $() not the pipe ...12:41
iseneioria: $() isn't a thing in Ruby. But...12:45
iseneI found it! Changing oauth2.py to python3 /home/geir/bin/oauth2.py did the trick :-D12:45
pragmaticenigmaisene: not sure if that %x was in your CRON task, but you have to escape the `%` character if you want to use them as inputs to a command being run. https://serverfault.com/a/27448013:09
isenepragmaticenigma: No, that's a Ruby convention to execute system commands13:10

andydudeMainly, GDM seems to be using the default theme, but is rendering text as black-on-(dark-grey) making it hard to read, also it seems to be not removing the text rendered when the menu is closed, the text remains17:52
andydudeDoes any know if this is a known issue?17:57

pragmaticenigmahermano: depending on what you are trying to do, you could try using "find" using the "-exec" option to run the chown command on the file/folder when it is found18:37
hermanopragmaticenigma, I need to "chown" inside a gitlab pipeline (executed on gitlab-runner). It will differ whether the folder/file exists or not.18:38

mkou_any suggestions, how to do do a script or a cron to work with tlp or system powermanagement plus shutdown from /etc/sbin ..so laptop poweroff at 20% battery?19:21
pragmaticenigmamkou_: this should apply to the latest Ubuntu 24.04 as well: https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2019/07/change-battery-critical-low-action-ubuntu-18-04/19:25
mkou_thanks, I hope it works for 22.04 as well19:25
mkou_i doubt, but will try19:26
mkou_my conf file was on critical 10 and hibernate, will test it with the poweroff action and critical 2019:29
pragmaticenigmaThe important thing was the file was there... the only thing I can think of that would fail to work is if the service upower.service was disabled in systemd.19:31
mkou_do you reckon IgnoreLid=false, might interfere if the lid is closed when the action to poweroff at 20% comes?19:31
mkou_alright, I will check in systemd19:31
mkou_its all good19:34
pragmaticenigmamkou_: IgnoreLid disables the power management from using the lid as a trigger. Usually closing the lid on a machine will set the machine to standby. You would change that option if you wanted to close the lid and have the computer remain fully powered on19:36
mkou_correct, which I did, so the system stays on on closed lid, juts thought i might interfere somehow. Ok so, shouldn't be a problem19:38
mkou_Thanks!19:38
pragmaticenigmaI don't believe it should interfere. I would test when you can pay attention to the machine to make sure19:38
mkou_yes the only way to test it is to set critical level on say 70% and to just wait and see in a few minutes19:39
mkou_PercentageAction=70 / CriticalPowerAction=PowerOff19:40
pragmaticenigmasounds like a good way to test, just remember to restart the upower.service when you make changes to its config file. Also, avoid changing settings in the Desktop gui as it may reset some of those preferred settings19:40
mkou_sure, wont touch gui, will restart the upower service19:41
mkou_not working20:02
mkou_# If any value is invalid, or not in descending order, the defaults # will be used.20:06

enigma9o7So I've been unable to resume from suspend on ubuntu 22.04LTS for a while (month or two).  I finally spent some time today figuring it out and have determined that if I boot older linux-image-generic (5.15) or 6.5 (which I guess I have leftover from earlier) it works just fine.22:31
enigma9o7However on hwe (6.8) this problem occurs.22:32
enigma9o7I have nvidia 750ti using nvidia-driver-550 and I assume that's somehow related, cuz when I try to resume from suspend on 6.8, it seems to power up, just doesn't give me any display.22:32
enigma9o7So, my concern is if/when I upgrade to 24.04 I'll be forced back into 6.8 and won't have suspend, which I normally use regularly....22:33
enigma9o7(Additionally I'm now trying to figure out how to tell grub to boot the 6.5 so I don't have to remove hwe, so I can try it periodically incase an update fixes this, but I think I can figure this one out.)22:34
enigma9o7My assumption is this started when hwe went from 6.5 to 6.822:35
enigma9o7I also would like to understand why 6.5 is installed (automatic) when I don't see any package installed that provides it (unlike the generic and hwe) https://paste.debian.net/1330205/ - will it get security updates?22:37
bpromptenigma9o7:   you can just try to get hwe 6.5 manually by getting the .deb file from pkgs.org, and install it using dpkg -i, because "apt" is going to whine is older and so on22:42
bpromptenigma9o7: you don't see any hwe 6.5 listed from the "apt" command, possibly is not including default apps that come with the .iso distribution22:43
enigma9o7Well I do already have it, just not sure what's keeping it from getting autoremoved and if it will ever update.  I'll likely apt-mark hold it if I don't figure it out.22:44
enigma9o7it is still in repo tho, there's a million 6.5 oem type packages there.22:44
bpromptenigma9o7: yeap, they list all kind of distros for that package, you have to use one that works for  you22:45
