[00:03] Since I replaced my old Kubuntu with Numbt, Inkscape is doing something funny. Its windows done refresh properly. Sometimes the drawing area includes parts of the windows underneath, or of the desktop image. I think my X server is misconfigured somehow but I don't know what to search for to find out how to fix it. [00:03] I have screenshots if anyone thinks that will help. [00:04] https://plover.com/~mjd/misc/ss/ [00:07] I very dimly remember that this might have something to do with the nvidia driver, or maybe with the settings that have to do with how X interacts with the nvidia, but I don't remember any of the details. [00:07] what is numbt? [00:07] Noble Bumbat [00:07] Numbat. [00:07] Sorry, I've become very bad at typing in my old age. [00:07] oh oke [00:09] what is wrong exactly? those screenshots do not give a clue [00:09] some items appear as blocks [00:10] For example, in https://plover.com/~mjd/misc/ss/Screenshot_20241002_184009.png there are two Inkscape windows. The small one displays my drawing, which is a bunch of gray boxes. The large one is not displaying that. Instead it contains my desktop background image. It should also have some gray boxes. [00:12] maybe precview does not calculate and draw [00:12] -c [00:12] In https://plover.com/~mjd/misc/ss/Screenshot_20241002_184040.png you can see that the topmost Inkscape window is completely misrendered. It has three color picker bars in various places. The upper and lower parts are displaying the same portion of the diagram. The bottom part is not displaying the drawing at all, it is displaying my desktop background again. [00:12] only output does [00:12] I'm not sure what you mean by "preview". [00:16] I think I'm using the nouveau drivers and that previously I was able to fix rendering problems like this by using the non-free nvidia drivers instead. [00:16] I don't know if that advice is still current (or if I'm remembering right!) [00:17] worth a check [00:47] I think I've installed the nvidia driver and rebooted and that X is now using it in place of nouvear, but I still have the same rendering problem, unfortunately. [12:08] Hi all [14:27] I upgraded from noble to the oracular beta today and Plasma 6.1 with Wayland is so smooth and great! Kudos and thanks to the Kubuntu and KDE dev team for such a great release! [15:36] https://imgur.com/a/LEzSLs8 [15:50] I also had a problem not immediatelly after install but after a consecutive update etc. I couldn’t go after sddm. So i went into terminal reinstalling and upgrading till resolved. Now its ok. (re @IrcsomeBot: `/lib/x86_*/libkwin.so.6`) [15:56] guruprasad: thank you for that :) [16:04] Hi all [16:34] buonasera a tutti [16:36] volevo qualche informazione riguardo la possibilità di far funzionare una scheda audio con la gameport [16:36] ovvero le vecchie porte a 15pin per collegare gamepad e volanti ormai datati [16:38] qualcuno in linea [16:40] ciao nuovo utente [16:48] good evening, kubuntu supports the use of the old gameport (db15 pin) to be able to connect the old gampads and steering wheels from the 90s... for a retrogame project [17:21] i did it like this: [17:21] sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pipewire-debian/pipewire-upstream [17:21] sudo apt update [17:21] sudo apt install pipewire [17:21] sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pipewire-debian/wireplumber-upstream [17:21] sudo apt update [17:41] Hi, I have a question how to get Kubuntu to work with Yubikey 5, after installing Yubikey Manager it does not detect the key?
