rbasakhalves: around?08:28
rbasakLooking at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CrashUpdates08:28
rbasakHow does this fit with https://canonical-sru-docs.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/latest/reference/requirements/#new-upstream-microreleases ?08:28
rbasakIs it that those criteria are not met (which ones?) and therefore you are requesting an exception?08:29
rbasakhalves: I'm asking because I'd like to document in the wiki what exactly this would be an exception *to*, so future SRU reviews will go smoothly.08:41
rbasakhalves: on similar lines, I'd like to define exactly which upstream releases would or would not qualify (eg. would 7.3.1 -> 8.0.0?), and have some sort of summary of expected testing that the SRU team can use to confirm that the planned testing has been performed and passed. The general principle seems OK though. I particularly appreciate you pointing out what you *won't* be testing. That'll make it09:30
rbasakeasy later since it pre-empts that question when we review testing later.09:30

sorenI seem to remember reading some documentation on how the kernel livepatches are produced, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Is my memory playing tricks on me?14:29

halvesrbasak hi! you're correct, crash does not fit within the current criteria of the microreleases. the project doesn't have its own testing, and releases are not constrained to bugfixes only (which is why we need the exception, as it doesn't fit within the SRU scope currently)15:43
halvesrbasak I added a note at the top about the versions, as ideally we'd be able to update major versions as well (i.e. 7.3.1 -> 8.0.0 should be covered under this exception)15:44
halvesI've expanded a bit the section on what's going to be tested and what's going to be left out (crash extensions, notably). and to hopefully make review easier, I've added a template suggestion with a checklist at the end, so it's easier to parse testing results from a glance15:46
halvesrbasak let me know what you think of these changes, and if you still have any questions!15:46
rbasakhalves: thanks! I'm trying to wind down a few things before I EOD now. This is in my list of things to do next week.16:54
