IrcsomeBot<plutorocks> is there any potential conflict if I install gnome or gtk packages on Kubuntu which is primarily QT based?09:47
IrcsomeBot<RikMills> I won't say there in no potential, as there are too many gnome/gtk apps to count easily. However, not aware of anything vaguely common with big issues. As always, if you do find something then please report. (re @plutorocks: is there any potential conflict if I install gnome or gtk packages on Kubuntu which is primarily QT based?)09:58
IrcsomeBot<plutorocks> Surely if I find so. Installed few gtk apps will make around 200 packages  on kubuntu (re @RikMills: I won't say there in no potential, as there are too many gnome/gtk apps to count easily. IrcsomeBot<ilyaishere> I've seen users have a ton of confusion due to Fcitx5, so I ended up writing a guide on disabling it:10:03

IrcsomeBot<Niggolas> Hello, has anybody managed to run displaylink on Kubuntu 24.10?11:15
BluesKajHi all12:00
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> Hi there, Kmail is outdated, the newer versions don't ask for GPG signing and support on browser Microsoft sign in, the currently offered Kmail sends me to Google sing in instead of Microsoft's, my account has 2FA enabled with Microsoft authenticator12:10
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> TBH I like not mixing toolkits and having uniformity so I like using Geary + Contacts + Calendar in GNOME and Kmail + Kaddressbook + Korganozer in Plasma so for me this is a big issue12:18
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> Could this app be updated soon?12:19
IrcsomeBot<ilyaishere> You can install it as an up-to-date Flatpak, https://flathub.org/apps/org.kde.kontact (re @sergioad: Hi there, Kmail is outdated, the newer versions don't ask for GPG signing and support on browser Microsoft sign in, the currently offered Kmail sends me to Google sing in instead of Microsoft's, my account has 2FA enabled with Microsoft authenticator)12:33

IrcsomeBot<RikMills> Debian are currently updating the PIM stack to Qt6 versions. Once they are done with that we can probably update to more recent versions in our dev release. (re @sergioad: Could this app be updated soon?)12:53
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> So ot would be ready in 25.04 right? (re @RikMills: Debian are currently updating the PIM stack to Qt6 versions. Once they are done with that we can probably update to more recent versions in our dev release.)12:54
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> Or could it be back ported?12:55
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> I usually refuse using Kontact as it feels bloated and I can't hide the HTML banner by chqnging its colors (re @ilyaishere: You can install it as an up-to-date Flatpak, https://flathub.org/apps/org.kde.kontact)12:56
IrcsomeBot<ilyaishere> I'm pretty sure this Flatpak ships a separate launcher for KMail (re @sergioad: I usually refuse using Kontact as it feels bloated and I can't hide the HTML banner by chqnging its colors)12:57
IrcsomeBot<RikMills> Hopefully. If all goes to plan.  Backports depend on the dependencies being available in earlier releases, which I am not 100% sure on right this moment (re @sergioad: So ot would be ready in 25.04 right?)12:57
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> Well... The new PIM suite versions work on Fedora 40, Indoubt it would be hard to backport12:59
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> Thanks , I am going to try it (re @ilyaishere: I'm pretty sure this Flatpak ships a separate launcher for KMail)13:00
IrcsomeBot<RikMills> Good to know (re @sergioad: Well... The new PIM suite versions work on Fedora 40, Indoubt it would be hard to backport)13:01
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> It does not, already tried, thank you very much (re @ilyaishere: I'm pretty sure this Flatpak ships a separate launcher for KMail)13:05
IrcsomeBot<sergioad> Furthermore it lqcks the hamburger menu, it seems older13:08
IrcsomeBot<ilyaishere> Tried on my machine, this command launched KMail (24.08.2):13:09
IrcsomeBot<ilyaishere> flatpak run --command=kmail --file-forwarding org.kde.kontact (re @sergioad: It does not, already tried, thank you very much)13:09
IrcsomeBot<ilyaishere> seems to work fine and looks identical to the host KMail, but it's up to you of course13:10

ElliriaIn Kubuntu 22.04 LTS, if I had, as an example, a package named foo and I did the "sudo apt -s purs foo" command to simulate purging that package, the last line of the output would be "Purg foo [XXXX]" with XXXX being a version number, and note that the first word is misspelled as "Purg" and should be "Purge". Does anyone know if that is still an issue in the current release and, if so, which package to report it under? I'm assuming it would be the apt17:34
