blucaseb128: polkit has been in the "will attempt migration" status for a few days now, nothing obvious on https://ubuntu-archive-team.ubuntu.com/proposed-migration/plucky/update_excuses.html#policykit-112:23
blucaany idea what the issue might be?12:23
seb128bluca, when that step is clear then you need to check the next one, https://ubuntu-archive-team.ubuntu.com/proposed-migration/update_output.txt which indicates it makes some packages non installable anymore12:29
seb128The update is removed polkitd-pkla which in Ubuntu has currently some rdepends, at least studio-controls and ubuntustudio-installer12:29
seb128skipped: policykit-1 (0, 38, 246)12:33
seb128    got: 34+0: a-1:a-0:a-0:i-0:p-0:r-33:s-012:33
seb128    * riscv64: apturl, cinnamon, cinnamon-desktop-environment, gdm3, gnome, gnome-control-center, gnome-core, gnome-shell, gnome-shell-extension-alphabetical-grid, gnome-shell-extension-manager, gnome-shell-extension-prefs, gnome-shell-pomodoro, hotspot, ibus-tests, libvirt-dbus, lxpolkit, lxsession, lxsession-default-apps, lxsession-logout, phosh-core, phosh-full, phosh-phone, phosh-pim, phosh-tablet, policykit-1-gnome,12:33
seb128ubiquity, ubiquity-frontend-debconf, ubuntu-budgie-desktop, ubuntu-budgie-desktop-minimal, ubuntu-desktop, ubuntu-desktop-minimal, ubuntu-mate-core, ubuntu-mate-desktop12:33
seb128unsure why those are listed though, tried in a chroot type of env they are installable even with the proposed version and don't depends on the polkitd-pkla binary12:34
seb128I always find it difficult to process that britney output :/12:34
seb128Eickmeyer, ^ could you check what would be needed for studio-controls and ubuntustudio-installer to stop depending on polkitd-pkla?12:37
seb128ah, that update also drops the policykit-1 binary12:42
seb128which still has a bunch of rdepends in the archive12:43
seb128those the packages on the previous list depends on that one mostly12:44
blucaah thanks I wasn't aware of the other link13:02
blucayes the deprecated configs have been dropped entirely now, as they have been deprecated for a while13:03
blucait's no longer needed in debian but I guess there might be some ubuntu-only packages that still depend on it13:03
blucathey really need to move to the new config, as upstream doesn't maintain the old backend anymore, so there's no security support13:03
seb128bluca, well, the old backend is only those ubuntu studio packages which need to be reviewed, most of the list is simply package in Ubuntu that depends on the transitional binary instead of polkitd or pkexec, I've added a list of those to fix in the desktop backlog now and will start on those today13:07
blucanice, thanks13:37
ahasenack_enr0n: hi, any plans to merge openssh from debian soon? There is a gssapi packaging split conversation going on which affects us14:00
ahasenack_enr0n: and I would like to talk to you (assuming you are driving openssh merges and updates) about another gssapi patch we (server) are considering introducing :/14:01
ahasenack_enr0n: context: https://lists.debian.org/debian-ssh/2024/11/msg00002.html14:02
sudipLocutusOfBorg: libgit2 is stuck for libllhttp-dev dependency, will you want to keep vendored llhttp for all arch like in i386 ?14:37
enr0nahasenack_: yeah, I just started working on it yesterday14:42
ahasenack_cool14:42
ahasenack_enr0n: can I find some spot in your calendar to talk about that other patch?14:42
ahasenack_I have an interview and meetings now, then lunch, but maybe later14:42
enr0nahasenack_: yes that sounds good.14:47
ahasenack_enr0n: sent. It can be up to 2h later if you prefer, I don't know if it conflicts with your lunch15:24
enr0nahasenack_: nope, that time is just fine15:30
ahasenack_enr0n: thx15:30
Eickmeyerseb128: studio-controls is an upstream package (not exclusively Ubuntu) and is pretty much dead, we don't support it anymore, and we might even do a removal bug if need be. The modern version of ubuntustudio-installer might not need it, but I'll have to do some review there. The issue is that it's using the older polkitd files, but I have yet to15:40
Eickmeyerconfirm that.15:40
Eickmeyerseb128: The other issue is that Calamares uses polkitd-pkla, so Lubuntu, Ubuntu Unity, and Kubuntu depend on it, and it's seeded in their live seeds, so that's a factor, and it's not going to show-up as an rdpends there. (paging tsimonq2, arraybolt3, RikMills)15:44
RikMillsEickmeyer: I don't see polkitd-pkla in kubuntu seed since mantic15:53
EickmeyerRikMills: Odd since Calamares needs it in live. 🤔15:53
EickmeyerOh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯15:54
RikMillsEickmeyer: maybe something changed to make it no more needed?15:55
EickmeyerRikMills: I don't know, but it's still in Lubuntu's live seed as something needed for Cala.15:56
RikMillsIt got dropped in Noble in Kubuntu which I was partly away for, so clearly missed the whys and wherefores15:56
EickmeyerYeah, like I said, oh well. Not a factor then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯15:58
