[00:26] hello, i'm trying to use the users settings tool to manage my user accounts and it keeps throwing an "unknown error". i am totally unable to create valid user accounts using the graphical tools now. [00:27] i can't even delete the messed up users that were added by the utility [00:31] it says there was an unknown error communicating with the backends [00:32] that's as specific as it gets when run from the terminal [00:59] ok i'm back [00:59] it looks like there is some kind of system hang on the backend. if i close the users and groups utility after making a change and then open it again it hangs for almost a full minute before displaying properly. [01:18] can someone PLEASE help me, i don't want to do a full reinstall for such a minor issue. [01:24] andrew_, all I can tell you is what I do, which is use the adduser/deluser CLI. The whole architectire of the gui is opaque to me (and it isn't even in the normal Xubuntu install) [02:01] i figured out the problem. the /etc/skel/ folder had too much data in it. i was having it copy the themes folder and the icons folder from the admin account. [02:01] it was causing lag [04:17] :X
