wubygaqecHey guys, I have installed Anki desktop on Kubuntu 24.04 and I am not able to launch it. When i try to do so, it says The desktop entry file10:14
wubygaqec~/.local/share/applications/anki.desktop10:14
wubygaqecis not valid.10:14
skramerHello. I have a problem, actually 2 problems: First is I do not remember the password for the wallet. Have never been asked for it as long as I used 22.04. After upgrading to 24.04 yesterday, it does require a PW now. How can I fix this / reset the PW?11:48
skramerThe other problem s related to passwords as well: For instance Muon, it says I do not have enough privilages for installing / removing software. It does not even show the PW dialogue. How can that be fixed?11:51

IrcsomeBot<M4331m1714n0> I solved this issue by going into the network manager settings by clicking the wifi/network icon in the taskbar > Settings icon, and then from the networks screen that appears, I right-clicked my connection, clicked edit, and then under the "General configuration" tab, ticked the "All users may connect to this network" check box. When I restarted my computer, I wasn't asked to enter the kwallet password and connected to my network automa13:51
IrcsomeBot<M4331m1714n0> Perhaps this solution may also solve the problem you are having with kwallet.13:51
IrcsomeBot<M4331m1714n0> https://askubuntu.com/questions/284770/how-to-disable-kde-wallet-and-have-remember-password-working#610129 (re @IrcsomeBot: <skramer> Hello. D4mneddoes kubunut 24.4.1 comes with gcc pre installed ?14:01

=== Colti is now known as TukTuk
TukTukWhen i try to upgrade Kubuntu 22.04.5 LTS to 24.04 LTS everything starts fine, but at the end the last 5-6 packages can not be downloaded because the computer loses the internet connection every time14:10
TukTukAnybody heard about this problem before here?14:10
IrcsomeBot<M4331m1714n0> Can you connect ethernet cable, instead of wifi? (re @IrcsomeBot: <TukTuk> When i try to upgrade Kubuntu 22.04.5 LTS to 24.04 LTS everything starts fine, but at the end the last 5-6 packages can not be downloaded because the computer loses the internet connection every time)14:11
TukTukuse only use eth cable connection14:12
tomreynD4mned: i would not think so.14:12
IrcsomeBot<M4331m1714n0> Anyway if the problem persist  go to a new installation, and preserve the home folder(do you have a separate home I wish), if not backup your data and reinstall the system14:13
TukTuknot the solution i was hoping for, but i am not in hurry to upgrade. Perhaps that error gets solved in the future.14:16
TukTukjust tried to upgrade because the upgrader logo popped up14:17
TukTukso i thought everything works fine now14:17
skramerBluesKaJ: The problem is that I do not remeber that password because the system was upgraded from 20.04 on14:18
skramerM4331m1714n: I'm afraid that will be the way to go. Fortunately there is sparate /home14:19
IrcsomeBot<M4331m1714n0> But you get access to kubuntu without password at start up right?14:20
skramerM4331m1714n: Yes, it's not asking for PW. Which I also see as a bit strange, every other system always asked for login PW14:21
IrcsomeBot<M4331m1714n0> Perfect, so you can go to reinstall the system with the latest version following the custom install (re @IrcsomeBot: <skramer> M4331m1714n: I'm afraid that will be the way to go. Fortunately there is sparate /home)14:22
IrcsomeBot<M4331m1714n0> Are you sure there is not an Administrator profile in your setup? (re @IrcsomeBot: <skramer> M4331m1714n: Yes, it's not asking for PW. Which I also see as a bit strange, every other system always asked for login PW)14:23

tomreynis this system online by other means, though? can you access these urls with a web browser?14:27
D4mnedyeah im using it now14:28
D4mnedcould it be my isp ?14:28
tomreynhard to tell at this point, more info needed14:29
D4mnedwhat can i do ?14:29
tomreynwhats the output of     curl --resolve archive.ubuntu.com:185.125.190.81:80 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu14:30
D4mnedi dont have curl installed14:30
tomreynactually that should have been     curl --resolve archive.ubuntu.com:80:185.125.190.81 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu14:30
D4mnedim installing curl from snap14:31
tomreynwhat about wget -O-    http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu14:31
D4mnedHTTP request sent, awaiting response... Read error (Connection reset by peer) in headers.14:32
D4mnedRetrying.14:32
tomreynmaybe your internet connection isn't fully up, yet.14:33
D4mnedyeah probably my shitty isp14:33
tomreyni'm not sure i understood what you said about accessing http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu from a web browser14:33
tomreyn"yeah im using it now" didn't help me understand what you were getting in your web browser when trying to access the url14:34
D4mnedoh im sorry i misread what you said, i thought u were asking if the system is actually online so i said im using it right now to connect here14:35
D4mnedwhen i try to open the link in firefox it just hangs as well14:35
tomreynso this could be a routing issue14:36
tomreynor http interception14:36
tomreynyou can change the urls to httpS14:36
tomreynin /etc/apt/sources.list14:36
D4mnedoh14:36
D4mnedi changed it in the browser to https and it opened14:37
D4mnedthanks!14:37
tomreynthis would not help with routing issues, but with a bad middleman14:37
D4mnedwhat do you mean with http interception ?14:37
tomreynthere can be broken transparent proxies, 'security gateways' with broken configurations or overloaded which edit requests passing through the network14:39
tomreynalso re-routing to point users to closer apt mirrors, such as those hosted by that isp14:40
D4mnedwell you solved my problem thanks alot!14:41
tomreynusing httpS means you either bypass such attempts at optimization or bad configurations and talk to the intended servers.14:41
D4mnedi would never have guessed that14:42
tomreyn(... or run into certificate errors if re-routing also takes place on httpS)14:42
tomreynyou're welcome14:43
Messewixso happy i moved to kubuntu last weekend, it's been so fantastic16:54
ingopanHi,i am looking for a small tool or smth. that allows me to set custom hotkeys, like ctrl+shift+f12 to paste a string globally ? Whats the easiest take here ? Thanks in advance.17:21
ingopani accidently added 7 mini programs to my tray bar.  i just can find add mini programs. how do i remove/delete them ?17:43
ingopanthx in advance17:43
MessewixIf you mean the panel, you can right click and go to 'show panel configuration' and then hover over what you want to remove. If you mean the system tray, right click on the triangle/carat -> configure system tray -> entries -> and then you can say what you want visible, in the expanded menu, or gone entirely17:52
ingopanthanks. i am a bit afraid of doing something (more) wrong18:14
MessewixNo worries! If it ever comes to it you can always just make an entirely new panel and delete the old one, too18:16
ingopanthanks. i pmd you with a pic18:17
ingopanah i got it18:18
ingopanthanks18:18
