=== haggertk_ is now known as haggertk [06:28] I'm trying to setup a home server.  I installed minimal ubuntu server according to https://docs.zfsbootmenu.org/en/latest/guides/ubuntu/noble-uefi.html, and i'm not able to connect to the internet or my local network, though I was on the installation disc.  I've configured [06:28] https://documentation.ubuntu.com/server/explanation/networking/configuring-networks/index.html#static-ip-address-assignment (I installed openssh and nano in the process), and my router shows that the server is using the selected IP address (it wasn't before) and I'm able to ping the server (I couldn't before).  I'm not able to ping from the [06:28] server, not even the gateway, and get a failure in name resolution if I try pinging the internet. [06:35] I'll get the config files in a few minutes; I have to hand-type them all since i can't connect to the server [06:46] Config files: https://pastebin.com/Tm3q4fY5 [06:59] solved, i misunderstood how the subnet mask worked [10:58] Hi how can I report an issue with nut-client? [10:58] https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/issues/2806#issuecomment-2681909630 [10:58] -ubottu:#ubuntu-server- Issue 2806 in networkupstools/nut "fopen /run/nut/upsmon.pid: No such file or directory & nut-monitor.service: Supervising process 861 which is not our child. We'll most likely not notice when it exits." [Open] [11:01] hi [11:02] is it possible to mirror the snap store? motivation: server behind proxy cannot access store, all packages come from a local apt mirror, direct outside access not an option [11:02] hi [11:06] https://documentation.ubuntu.com/snap-store-proxy/ <- if it is in the docs, it is maintained? Seems to be what I'm looking for. [11:44] deadrom: downloading the snaps ISOs with `snap download` is also an option if you just need specific ones. [11:48] deadrom, yes, it is maintained and used by many canonical customers [11:49] deadrom, I'd ask your IS people to install it on the apt mirror machine ... [11:49] (or something alike) [12:47] ogra, went that route, thanks [12:47] ogra, luckily there are no IS people here :) [13:09] deadrom, heh, i meant IT people indeed (they are called IS (information systems) over here) [14:05] Hi. I am having connectivity issues on ubuntu server. I have set up the system to have no dcpc4 and 6 in order to have a static up provided by uni's IT department and when I ping after 5-10 pings the connection randomly fails. I have also disabled ufw via systemctl and I stil lhave the same issues. [14:05] How can I figure out what is wrong? [14:10] tcpdump [14:11] what are you pinging? [14:11] if it's a router, then only responding to some packet or entirely stopping after responding to some can be completely normal. [14:30] tomreyn: I was pinging google [14:30] tomreyn: I should run tcpdump? [14:43] sokan: i'd expect google.com edge nodes to respond to every request [14:43] you can use tcpdump to examine what's happening with your packaets and which responses are received. [14:44] ideally you'd monitor this on both ends, but i assume you're not google, so this can be difficult. you could try a different target that you do control, though. === jgee032 is now known as jgee03 === JanC is now known as Guest7903
