nedbatI'm using a base Docker image a co-worker made, they used `apt-get clean && rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*` to trim it down.  Now I need to install more packages in my image, so I used `apt-get update`, but I get an error "You must put some 'deb-src' URIs in your sources.list".  any pointers?12:11
nedbatI'm looking at /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.sources, it says "Types: Append deb-src to enable the fetching of source package.", but I don't understand what edit it needs. I tried changing "Types: deb" to "Types: deb-src", or "Types: deb deb-src", neither changed the behavior12:18
anankenedbat: what did your /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.sources look like before this?12:29
Jantzgreetings I come in peace jkjk how the hell is everyone? whats news?12:38

ubottu#ubuntu is the Ubuntu support channel, for all Ubuntu-related support questions. Please use #ubuntu-offtopic for other topics (though our !guidelines apply there too). Thanks!12:39
nedbatananke: I think I got it, i changed "Types: deb" to "Type: deb deb-src", then `apt-get update`, and it seems good now12:50
anankenedbat: earlier you said that this incantation didn't work12:52
nedbatananke: i had them in the other order. "update / edit" didn't work.  "edit / update" did.12:52
nedbat(which makes total sense now that I think about it)12:52
anankeyeah, apt-get still can't jump in the future or read your mind ;)12:53
ian|is there a utility to locate files (outside of /home) that are "unowned" by any installed packages?13:00
ian|cruft-ng/oracular 0.9.63ubuntu1 amd6413:04
ian|  programs that helps analyse volatile "cruft" files on your system13:04
lotuspsychjeian|: whats your end goal exactly13:04
lotuspsychjeian|: you want temp cruft cleanup, or manualy installed apps,..or?13:05
ian|manually installed apps, no, because i rely on and use some apps installed via 'makedeb'13:05
ian|according to 'cruft' s output, i have nothing to worry about13:07
lotuspsychjeian|: what i use for cleanup is stacer & bleachbit13:07
lotuspsychjeian|: to investigate you can also chase dirs with baobab (disk analyzer)13:10
ian|my main problem to be solved is that i ran a huge 'sudo apt install _ _ _ _ _ _ _' prior to using makedeb to compile and install some packages13:12
ian|i should have not done that and simply relied on the PKGBUILDs' dependency lists13:13
ian|so essentially i'm trying to clean up "apt-mark showmanual"13:13
lotuspsychjeian|: maybe synaptic can help there in a graphical way and will help remove the depends too13:17
