[15:14] jrwren: what is "upgrade", don't we just rebuild docker images now? :P [15:16] greg-g: exactly. [15:16] but... I still love my pet home server. [15:16] I keep it to one. it makes a nice hobby. [15:16] the upgrade wasn't as smooth as in years past, but I got through it with repeated apt upgrade, apt dist-upgrade and apt autoremove [15:18] * greg-g nods [15:19] also, I've come to completely love the zabby kernel repo. it is soooo nice to have the latest kernel regardless of ubuntu version. [15:19] I kinda feel bad about my synology nas (instead of a well built debian/whatever server) but alas. At least I'm running my docker containers on it for my selfhosted services [15:20] oh, TIL [15:20] https://stgraber.org/2023/08/24/stable-linux-mainline-builds/ [15:20] nice, thanks [15:20] synology is great though. I model my use of LVM around synology hybrid raid. [15:21] yeah, does most of the thinking for me [15:22] just feels a bit weird/too dumbed down sometimes :) [15:22] but at the same time, do I really want yet another responsibility right now? nope. [15:22] ha! I hear that. [15:54] I worked hard over the last half year documenting my own "continuity plan" for the situation where I die and the family has to figure out how to do all the financial things I do for them. I started reducing my tech load during that time as I was seeing how much load-bearing things I had to think about :) [18:04] UGH. that is rough.
