| kinghat | i just installed ubuntu server 24.04.3 and when a reboot it hangs at the bios screen with no countdown to continue on. when powered off and on it boots normally into the os. what would be causing this on a fresh install? i dont even want it to go to the bios screen with a countdown unless i hit e or whatever the hotkey is for that. | 04:37 |

| patdk | normally happens if the last boot failed | 04:38 |
| kinghat | even from a fresh boot from off, log in, reboot and goes to that? | 04:39 |
| patdk | sure, if it didn't log it as a successful boot | 04:40 |
| kinghat | how do i get it to do that or why isnt it successfully booting? i do notice this at boot that flashes very quickly: https://irc.kinghat.xyz/uploads/c58924cc2b3b959b/image.png | 04:49 |
| kinghat | not sure if that would be the cause or not 🤔 | 04:49 |
| patdk | nope, unless for someone reason you installed non-signed grub/kernels | 04:53 |
| kinghat | nah just a fresh install. i did check install 3rd party drivers but it didnt find any to install anyways. | 04:55 |
| kinghat | oh i guess i installed using the HWE kernel too. | 04:58 |
| kinghat | and i didnt install via an lvm group but that shouldnt matter. | 05:07 |
| kinghat | huh. did another fresh install, on lvm, hit reboot when it gave me the option, said it couldnt unmount cdrom and i pulled the usb installer and pressed enter. went right to the grub screen again 🤷♂️ | 05:16 |
| kinghat | think i figured it out. i have another drive installed that the os was previously installed to. when i installed to the new(second) drive i set it to wipe the old drive with the os on it. i guess it didnt fully wipe it or something. though i did check if there was a partition on it and there wasnt. anyways i just formatted it to make sure and it | 05:56 |
| kinghat | reboots fine now. | 05:56 |
