mamarleyMirv: It looks like the most recent qtbase-opensource-src upload in Yakkety causes Quassel to crash every time on startup: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/162087001:00
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1620870 in qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) "After updating to qtbase-opensource-src 5.6.1+dfsg-3ubuntu3~3, Quassel crashes every time on start" [Undecided,New]01:00
Mirvmamarley: and I tested like transmission and qtcreator... the problem is related to mitya57's patches backported from Qt 5.7, which solve a lot of problems (including the appmenu-qt5 caused problems) but apparently they are not yet problem free either04:35
tsdgeosoh shit, konsole is now crashing on startup :S07:11
IrcsomeBot<CliffordTheBigRedDoggie> Tsdgeos what versions07:28
tsdgeosyakkety07:29
tsdgeosi think something new in qt landed with qtdbusmenu support that only crashes/happens if running konsole in unity07:29
acheronuktsdgeos: sounds another symptom of what was discussed here https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2016/09/07/%23kubuntu-devel.html#t01:0007:46
tsdgeosacheronuk: the backtrace looks different to me07:46
tsdgeosbut can be07:46
tsdgeosalso vlc crashing is not nice either07:47
IrcsomeBot<CliffordTheBigRedDoggie> Albert you reported that in akamedy channel?07:47
tsdgeosi did ask Shawn that wrote the patches to be pinged for me, yes07:47
IrcsomeBot<CliffordTheBigRedDoggie> Rik what has dropped in yy recently?07:47
tsdgeosi did report it properly in launchpad07:47
tsdgeosShawn wrote the patches AFAIK07:47
tsdgeosmay be wrong07:47
acheronukclivejo: I saw the Qt updates at least07:48
IrcsomeBot<CliffordTheBigRedDoggie> Ive no access to a system07:49
IrcsomeBot<CliffordTheBigRedDoggie> Who uploaded?07:49
acheronukxorg update I think and gcc as well?07:50
tsdgeoshttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1620937 for the bug07:51
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1620937 in qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) "konsole crashes on startup since Qt update in yakkety" [Undecided,New]07:51
acheronukMirv for the qt stuff I think. or a least some of it07:51
tsdgeosyeah talked to him already07:55
mitya57tsdgeos, that code is mine, looking07:56
tsdgeosmitya57: oh ok, somehow i thought Shawn had been working on it07:56
tsdgeossorry for the confusion :)07:56
mitya57Some part was written by Shawn, yes07:57
mitya57But I was one who broke the Ubuntu package ;)07:57
mitya57tsdgeos, this is on Unity, not Plasma, right?08:09
IrcsomeBot<CliffordTheBigRedDoggie> (Photo, 720x1280) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/8poaScgL/file_380.jpg08:10
IrcsomeBot<CliffordTheBigRedDoggie> Valorie in the mornings :p08:10
tsdgeosmitya57: yes08:11
acheronukkonsole is certainly fine in plasma here08:12
mitya57Right, because Plasma has its own platform theme08:12
mitya57On Unity the workaround will be using appmenu-qt5, until I fix the bug08:13
tsdgeosnope08:14
tsdgeosdoesn't work08:14
tsdgeosalready tried08:14
mitya57tsdgeos, that sounds strange. Did you export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=appmenu-qt5?08:20
mitya57Sorry, I meant QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=appmenu-qt508:20
tsdgeosi did08:21
tsdgeosbut obviously i did it wrong08:21
tsdgeossince now it's working :D08:21
mitya57tsdgeos, is it easy for you to test a patch?08:56
tsdgeosmitya57: sure08:57
mitya57tsdgeos, then please try this http://paste.ubuntu.com/23145023/ (with QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME unset)08:58
tsdgeosmitya57: ok, will take a while, qt takes time to compile :D09:13
mitya57I just realized that my local Qt build is 5.7.1, not 5.6, so I'm not able to start Konsole with it09:14
* mitya57 compiles 5.609:16

tsdgeosmitya57: and quassel works for me :D09:48
mitya57tsdgeos, maybe the stacktraces are different, but my patch can fix the other bug too :)09:48

jimarvan:D13:14
acheronukand a fair bit of testing I presume13:14
IrcsomeBot<yofel> Slideshow one could argue is a "bugfix"13:15

keithzgclivejo: 5.7.2 backport still need testing? Just got the final part necessary in at the office to boot up the new server for work, it's all ready to be used as a Kubuntu testbed while I wait for the *rest* of the parts to actually press it into office service :)22:43
keithzg...or maybe I'm not ready, since apparently I can't click "continue" on the "Preparing to Install Kubuntu" page from the 16.04.1 installer. Huh.22:45
IrcsomeBot<marcinsagol> To small partition/virtual disk?22:46
keithzgI mean, I haven't gotten to the part where you actually even look at possible partitions . . .22:50
keithzgThis is just the page where you choose whether or not to download updates or install possibly proprietary bits.22:50
acheronukHow big is the disk?22:51
keithzg120GB22:51
keithzgOr if you mean the thumb drive it's running from, 8GB22:52
keithzgIt'd be pretty weird if the size of the disk meant that I couldn't get *to* the disk setup screen, though, no?22:55
acheronukOddly, that is what ubiquity does. e.g. if you try to install on a VM with too small a disk, it will site there on it's initial screen with the buttons inactive. Odd way to code it!22:59
keithzgHuh.22:59
keithzgBut it's not even the *initial* screen, I get to hit continue once before it stalls me.22:59
keithzgThat's probably it though, then, I must've forgotten something or not quite seated the cables right.23:00
acheronukPeople get it all the time trying to install on say virtualbox, and the default disk size for a ubuntu VM was set too small.23:02
acheronuknot saying it is that, but it's the first thing I would investigate23:02
keithzgAha, well the damned angled SATA power cable definitely got pulled out when I closed the case apparently, so I bet that was indeed it.23:05
keithzgWell damn, it was a good long run but I guess I finally have something bad to say personally about Ubiquity.23:05
keithzg(although maybe I'm forgetting some rough patches in the mid/late 00's, heh)23:06
keithzgYup, that did the trick, thanks acheronuk and marcinsagol23:08
acheronukNot quite the bug I was thinking of then, but same symptom. i.e. no useful error message to tell you what is wrong!23:09
