sil2100rbasak: hey! I'll look into reviewing the snapd SRUs today, if anything, as those are needed for the UC22 release we're working on right now09:28
sil2100So just a heads-up09:28
xnoxvorlon:  i hope we don't need qt on i386. i thought in the past something rather wanted it, like cmake? and then it spiralled into a massive chain of deps. Unless this has been resolved and we have gui-less cmake now.09:40

seb128sil2100, hey, anything we can do to move bug #1965901 forward? we have seen no report of regression from the staging period11:42
ubottuBug 1965901 in modemmanager (Ubuntu) "SRU the new 1.18 serie to focal for hwe" [Undecided, New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/196590111:42

sil2100seb128: hey! Ah, yeah, wanted to consult this with someone first, because essentially this will regress users with locked radios (...but regress it with good intentions and 'needed')11:44
sil2100Let me think about it tomorrow during my SRU shift11:44
seb128sil2100, ok, oem team pinged me again about it. I agree with you on the regression, on the other side we need to consider the argument that the vendors are going to regress users anyway through firmware update and we need to address that problem also11:45
seb128I mean that's one of the reason for the update11:45

locutusofborgseb128, I honestly don't understand the libsdl2 block proposed tag... is it something I should care?13:41
locutusofborgI did the testing and its good now13:41
seb128locutusofborg, ? there is no tag, it's waiting for autopkgtest results according to excuses13:46
seb128locutusofborg, if you are talking about the SRU bug #1976198 you need to ask rbasak since I don't understand his point13:47
ubottuBug 1976198 in libsdl2 (Ubuntu) "[SRU] Possible missing dependencies of libsdl2-dev in Jammy" [High, Fix Committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/197619813:47
seb128> I wonder though if we can stage it to bundle it with an update that directly impacts users13:48
seb128I would say that missing depends on a -dev impact users since it gives you a non working lib unless you figure out you need to install extra binaries the deb isn't pulling for you13:48
seb128I'm going to write that on the bug13:49
locutusofborgyes wrong ping sorry13:50

rbasaklocutusofborg: I suppose it just depends on assessment of priority. A workaround being available without eg. needing a new patched binary built makes it lower priority. Requiring all users, most of whom are unaffected, to download extra updates isn't good for them. Bundling together with an essential security update would be ideal. So it's just a case of the trade-off between all of those.14:56
rbasakIf the use case is only building from an upstream git branch tip, then there's also the possibility of temporarily workaround around from that end.14:58
rbasakOtherwise we end up with users downloading gigs of updates every few days for relatively trivial issues, and that's also suboptimal.14:58
rbasakseb128: you missed my comment if you care: https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2022/06/01/%23ubuntu-release.html#t14:5615:18

vorlonah because it's currently built from a source that has a delta so won't autosync16:16
